There are procedures to driving a car as well, some do not follow the procedures and end up getting hurt, and cars kill more people in this country than guns owned by law-abiding citizens do. Should we further regulate or in your mind take cars from everyone? Cars are can be a dangerous device, chain saws can be a dangerous device, pencils can be a dangerous device, the difference between them being used safely and unsafely makes them dangerous or not

Guns by the way, do have safety deviced built in. There are safety switches, there are two peice triggers, and there are slide locks which hold the slide of a gun open so they cannot fire while emptying the chamber.

I find the conservative mind incapable of dealing with reality so rationalization is their only option. It's probably some sort of a mental defect.

Reality-check: do we, or do we not, have a Constitutinal right to own and use guns?

We don't know. The Supreme Court hasn't ruled. All states provide you some rights to own guns. Whether it's the Constitution or state law that enables you hasn't really ever been decided. Stay tuned this summer though.

all you need to do is read this. It is a very in-depth study of the second amendment, including a study on the english language and its uses at the time our constitution was created.

The Constitution does not "give me a right to be armed". Being alive does that!

Good article with lots of good points.

Favorite here is basically...start taking away guns and you are essentially taking away our right to self-defense. Guess we all just lie down and die if someone attacks us, according to the anti-gunners. People who own/use guns illegally will still be out there; people abiding by the law will be helpless.

A person can "attempt" anything, under any conditions.

Obviously, in his attempt to dismantle his weapon he didn't get far. Once a firearm is dismantled it can't be shot.

How would a firearm be designed to prohibit the user from attempting to disassemble it?

How would a chainsaw be designed to prohibit the user from attempting to start it while holding the blade?

Some things are common sense.

And some people are born without that.

You, for instance.
