Since you clearly need to read the text of the amendment again, here it is:

I was nice and bolded the important part.
Be sure to have a copy of that in your hand when you take a gun onto an airplane. Better yet, also post where and when here. I'd like to bring popcorn and watch the show.

I have taken my handgun aboard a commercial aircraft. I declare it. The ammunition is in my checked luggage seperate from the firearm

If we all need to have guns in order to be safe, then what does that say about our society?

Who said that "we all need" a firearm? No one that I am aware of has.

The issue IS however, that everyone has the "right" to own/possess a firearm

Well, if a society believes that people need guns to feel safe and there is 1 individual within that particular society who claims that he already feels safe without a gun, he will probably be labelled as 'insane' by that society.

Rights are defined by law. Our Constitution provides for a nation of laws, not men.

Please remember that there are very few dangerous guns and a surprisingly large number of dangerous people. Anybody that has ever had any martial arts or been through Army or Marine boot camp is a dangerous person even if they never carry a gun. Maybe we should work on controlling dangerous people.

Disarming everyone only creates a defenseless victim class. Firearms really are the “great equalizer” and owning and carrying a firearm should be encouraged. Schools should teach basic unarmed self-defense to all children. Local police should hold classes on armed self-defense on a regular basis to provide basic knowledge and skills to any adult citizen that wants to learn.

Remember disarming everybody does not protect anybody except the security forces that really do not want to face an armed population when they start enforcing political correctness or religious zealotry.

And, your point is???

The fact remains, that our laws, with limited exceptions (felons / those adjudicated insane) allow for private ownership and possession of firearms.

This does not equate however to saying everyone "needs" (or wants") a firearm.

I am a very serious gun owner. In my lifetime, I have spent several hundred thousand dollars on guns and hunting the most dangerous game. However, when it comes to dangerous criminals, I leave that to the police authorities.
