it's basically identical to what you said. it was a local affair and no one but locals are allowed to have an opinion on it.

Nope..everyone is free to have an opinion...I don't think that this incident should rise to the level of national attention that it did...and for the reasons that it did. In its elements, it is barely newsworthy. The deliberate distortion of facts was contemptible. As were the reason for the lies.

But no matter..no minds are going to be changed here...and it's my mistake to have bothered trying to set the record straight..when it is apparent that the 'truth' really matters little...next to some people's political and cultural agendas.

Please, you are free to have your opinion--it would be a bonus if said opinion was rooted in fact--but of course, it's not mandatory.

I apologize for letting my anger and disgust get in the way of anyone's right to shoot their mouths off about things that they are wholly ignorant of..that is, of course, their right to free speech.

The little girl who was violated didn't seem to be protected, she had to move, her mom has cancer, her dad works hard for low wages and everyone knows the little girls name and face. Where is her protection as a minor and little disabled girl who can't speak?

What is shameful; is you and others don't believe the disabled girl and you side with young men who violated her. You're pretty much saying and telling the 5 yr old little girl to get over it, aren't you?

Is this what you would tell your 5 yr old daughter, would you side with 3 boys over your little girl?
Well some would say that Terror attacks are 'part and parcel of living in a big city', as claimed by London mayor Sadiq Khan. Remember taking any other point of view is racist, racialist and profiling.</sarcasm>

Well, Twin Falls, Idaho is a long way from London.

Any attempt at terror here would be met with a hail of gunfire..some of it might even come from a legally armed refugee.

I changed the quoted article to a more mainstream source. But my problem is with the normalization of terror, largely to make life easier for people who don't want to merge into our society. We don't need a war from within.

Totally agree..but comparing Europe..even Great Britain, with the US...is a false equivalency. the cultures are very different..including the US traditional assimilation of immigrants--within 3 or 4 generations vs Europe's 'ghetto-ization' of newcomers.

The alt/right likes to portray a danger of our country being 'overwhelmed' with refugee hordes. As though any sane person would want that..and as if we would allow millions of refugee's--a logical absurdity.

Terror is in no danger of becoming 'normal' here--in large part, because of the mechanisms for inclusiveness we have--and Europe does not.

i can't believe people are still pumping this patently fake anti muslim, anti immigrant nonsense.

the story pushed out by racists and sectarians has been shown to be a complete lie. And when they were exposed as liars they instead started to pretend there is a "conspiracy" which frankly is what those who make stuff up do. They lack facts so they make some up , repeat them on racist /sectarian websites and then quote on sites like this to pretend it is all real.

This whole story has been built on lies and fake news.

Now, following a sentencing hearing Monday at the Snake River Juvenile Detention Center in Twin Falls, Judge Thomas Borresen of Idaho’s 5th Judicial District issued a gag order preventing everyone in the courtroom from saying anything about the sentence received by the boys.
Borresen did allow the family to say they were unhappy with the sentencing, but threatened to jail them for contempt of court if they say why they are unhappy. REALLY?

“It’s unconstitutional for the judge to do that. There are gag orders that can be put on people during a jury trial, or if it’s a minor they can prohibit you from mentioning the name of the minor, but they can’t gag you after the fact,” Staver said. “This is public at this point. This judge, it just seems like he’s forgotten about the First Amendment in this case. He has no authority to do this, he can’t hold someone in contempt to keep them from speaking out about their displeasure with the case after the fact.”
Staver said case law is clear on the subject of gag orders.
“That’s a shame what happen to their little girl. This judge can’t gag them. They can voice their displeasure all they want to, this judge can’t do a thing to stop them,” he said. “Case law is clear. You cannot gag someone after the case is over. Anyone can comment on it, especially the victims. It’s my understanding what they wanted to do was criticize the outcome and they have that right.”
So says the "Need to Know News Blog", do you read any real newspapers or just continually search for bloggers that support your view. Pamela Geller has made a fortune on Muslim hatred.

According to this great legal expert they can disclose the identity of the girl who is a minor , can be disclosed after the trial. So tell me is that in the case in your neighborhood, are those abused minors public information and is it a national news story.

The only thing shameful is the use a young girl to promote your hate of refugees Maybe you missed it but the judge was attempting to prevent the girls privacy.

You seem to know a lot about the girl and her family that was not available in any legitimate news source, were you the court reporter.

What is shameful is your lionization of refugees. Maybe you hark back to the old myth of the "noble savages." Whether from Syria, as the article mistakenly contended or Sudan and Iraq, they still appear unsuited to Western cultures.
