There would have to be a national registry. Were all Americans must register their guns.
That is the slipperiest of slopes.
I agree. Slope can be dangerous. To avoid further dangers, I suggest banning all guns today. No need for federal registry, proofs, online checks, etc.
That also takes care of the need to define what an assault weapon exactly is.

That is the other extreme . Talking restrictions. Not a total ban.
They would need a court hearing within 72 hours or they can acquire a gun, that is not reasonable.
If we need to wait for the NRA to endorse anything we are wasting our time.
that is absolutely unreasonable. requiring a court hearing in order for someone who has not been convicted of a crime, or been found to be mentally defective or deficient, is a violation of the constitution, or do you not understand what "shall not be infringed" means?

I certainly hope, that would be unconstitutional! LOL Never know today.

I was just trying to ease the anxiety that the pro gun group are suffering from. They see slippery slopes and conspiracies behind every door. They are in a constant state of fear that someone is plotting against them. My suggestion would simplify things and clear the atmosphere. There would be nothing to fear from anymore.
Yes some internet sales are regulated but many just facilitate and take no responsibility other than connecting buyers and sellers. Many gun shows have gone to the extent that a gun does not leave without a tag indicating a background check.
Internet sales are supposed to be shipped to an FFL dealer, who then does the background check on the buyer when he picks it up.
The "gunshow loophole" is a myth.
Gunshow vendors must do a background check just like they were in their stores, but two individuals who happen to meet at a gunshow can sell or buy from each other without a background check. But it's not the location of the gunshow that makes this legal.
In state private transfers between two individuals don't require a background check, regardless of where they take place. This is what let's a father give his son a 22 for Christmas without having to run a background check on him. It's what let's you sell a hunting buddy you've known for years a shotgun without having to do a background check on him.
And yes, it's what let's two individuals who meet at a gunshow buy or sell without a background check......because regardless if it's under a Christmas tree, at your kitchen table over a beer, or at a gun show..... it's the transaction being between two individuals that's legal...irrelevant of the location.
That being said, most individual sellers won't sell to anyone without a CCW license anyways....that way they cover their backsides.
Yes if someone is going to sell a gun in a private sale it's hard to regulate before the fact except for gun shows and internet sales, they could however increase the penalties for non-compliance.
Have you been to a gun show and tried to buy a gun from a dealer, anything else is a private sale, along with internet sales.....
You cannot go to buds gun shop online and have a gun sent to your house...
Amazing people don't understand....
