Its probably already trying to get better via the black market. No doubt the authorities will try to crack down on it. Not kidding either. Socialism amok is not the only way to wreck a country. One South American country , Peru perhaps, had a pretty decent black market going after a structural adjustment from the IMF when crony capital ran amok. .

Small scale social cooperation and black markets between these groups always works well in these situations.

But then being a 3rd world, oil rentier state with a dictator really isn't much of a political system. Its not really socialism per se. Norway was a smart socialist state that took its oil revenue and purchased assets in a sovereign fund. It did not use oil revenue as cheap crack to bribe the populace.

Bankrupting an oil rich country is like the Donald bankrupting a Casino. It is difficult but it can be done.

Who wants to go down there? Venezuela is rapidly becoming the most dangerous country in Latin America with Caracas it's most dangerous city. Who needs that? Chavez demonized America for years and Madura still blames the CIA for his mismanagement...it's not a safe place for American news crews right now.

So all I have to do is find a barren rock in the middle of the ocean and use a capitalist system and it will thrive.

There is nothing inherently wrong with socialism anymore than there is anything inherently wrong with an insect biologically speaking. The problem is socialism doesn't scale well. There is also a lot more going on than just an economic system in both Venezuela and Finland.

The inherent evil of socialism or any silly costume of collectivism is that they all require continuous and widespread aggression and violence (thus evil and immoral) against the individual to exist...other than that, I guess its okay

Get rid of socialism. Encourage private investment.
