Well, that is really pathetic. A perfect time for the republican party to nominate an incompetent buffoon so they can lose the senate and maybe the house too! With a bonus of HRC getting to pick SCOTUS justices.

That might be the best part.

Afraid this a bipartisan issue.

Lowest congressional approval rating ever recorded on RCP was 8.4% in October 2013. And who controlled the senate?? Democrats

RealClearPolitics - Election Other - Congressional Job Approval

As you can see congressional approval has been ridiculously low for decade or so now, doesn't matter who's in charge, although partisans and party loyalists will hate to hear that.

I love how people try and make this a partisan issue. Look back folks... this low approval rating has been going on for years. Congress and Senate have been horrible for years.

While Democrats in Congress aren't popular, they're a lot less unpopular than Republicans in Congress.

Congress: Democrats

Congress: Republicans

And before you come back with "Yeah, but... that's just 'cause Republicans control Congress!", no -- if you look back to 2011-2014, when Congress was split (the Republicans controlling the House and the Democrats the Senate), the Democrats still polled better. And back from 2007-2010, when Democrats controlled both houses? Again, Democrats were more popular than Republicans.

And a substantial percentage of the Democrats' "captive embarrassment" is so shallow that it thinks only Presidential electons matter; fortunately the better-educated among both the Independents and the traditionally conservative segments tend to look (and think) a little deeper.

It is the Democrats. and only the Democrats. who seek to nurture economic ignorance and stupidity for political purposes.
