He admitted that he was going to immediately sell the gun back to them. Technically that is a straw purchase.
By admitting this to the shop but not admitting it on the nics form could have gotten him in a heap of trouble with the ATF.
The shop was covering there own a## (because he admitted to being a straw purchaser), as well as keeping him out of a lot of hot water.

Not sure where I implied otherwise. I just never knew that was a law, nor do I know for how long it has been. Seems like it would discourage people who need help from getting it.

It is worth actually READING form 4473 to understand what is actually asked. https://www.atf.gov/file/61446/download

One thing that many don't realize-if you smoke weed, you are not legally able to purchase a firearm.

That's some creative thinking, returning a gun to an FFL is a violation. You got me there.

You have moaned and groaned for years about "the rich homeowner" that strives, via the ballot box, to keep their neighborhood safe, clean and with value. THIS is why they work so hard to do that: because the alternative is a neighborhood that is a dump. "Everyone else" reaps what they do not sow because they do not care.

Looks like the DV charge would have been easy to see on any BCG. That usually also means AA classes and lots of other nice things if alcohol was involved.

If you have been convicted of DV, you might be able to buy a gun, but most places it would be illegal to carry it.

even if you don't smoke weed you can be illegal if you have a medical weed card. (and yes, there are non-users who would go through the motions of getting a card just to challenge this absurdity.)
