Brexit is a huge win for Putin. The British were pretty much the only EU member state that encouraged a response to Putin's landgrabs in Ukraine. The Germans and the French in particular were content to let Putin do whatever he wanted. The Germans probably wouldent even resist if Putin steamrolled all the way to the Seine.

This Briexit nonsense is just an attempt by the City of London to protect itself from Euro Union regulation and competition. Too bad just over half the fools in England fell for it. I expect Scotland and Northern Ireland will leave GB within a couple of years with Scotland rejoining the EU and Northern Ireland joining the Republic of Ireland to finally reunite the Irish. Then they will rejoin the EU and prosper while England slides into recession and third rate status. The City of London will prosper as the world's great money laundry and criminal bankers.
Maybe temporarily so ... but what happens when the EU inevitably collapses entirely because the Germans are obsessed with turning the EU into the United States of Europe dominated by Germany? Scotland and Ireland will be up ****es creek, especially considering how dependent they are on handouts.

If politicians don't lesson to voters the result will be nationalism, protectionism, and global balkanization. Brexit didn't create nationalism, it revealed it's popularity. Nationalism could lead to more war, as happened last century, but if things don't change you will see revolution after revolution and massive instability. Working class people across the globe can't find work, meanwhile a few ultra rich have as much money as the poorest half of humanity.

Also, I think the UK leaving the EU will likely strengthen nationalist/independence movements across the world, including many within the Russian Federation and within its sphere of influence.

Its reverbations could start a tidal wave of nationalist sentiment which spreads across the world. Which has already come to America to a degree, in the form of Donald Trump.

And most of this was done by George Soros.

Wrong on the first count because it was largely a US operation . V. Nuland refereed to it as the FU not the EU.

On the second count East Ukraine, Crimea and, South Ossetia were Russian and Russian sphere for hundreds of years and the locals welcome them.

When you can't bring good from two poles wielding influence, the next best thing is for evil to fight evil and some good emerges.

Why would any of this happen? What reasons?

There does not have to be any reason. Nationalism is in it's self reasonless or in other words completely without reason and so therefore unreasonable.

You mean NATO. NATO is solely responsibly for the security aspect. EU is about taxation and telling countries what they need to do and when.
