So the police had been to her home previously when she had mental crises? And they knew she had a gun? What happened to see something say something?

Gotta love this country. Mentally ill? Here--have a gun. Terrorist? Here--have a gun. Legalize pot? Oh no--that'll kill you!

Really? So... she wasn't even home, the child was not in the room. The guy is a 60 year old burnout and she really had to shoot him to death? Right. The day is coming when people who use guns to murder unarmed Americans will go to jail for it! It is a byproduct of the oversupply of human beings that makes the worth of any one of them less than insignificant that fuels this ease with which people can dispatch other people with whom they have no affinity. When things get bad enough Congress will just bypass the Smart Gun imbroglio and go right to forcing gun makers to develop non-lethal weapons for law abiding citizens to defend themselves with.

That's all the result of conservatism, every example you listed.

Tragic what they are doing to our country.

Where is the corresponding progress on guns? Smith and Wesson had their heads handed to them by the NRA after agreeing to look into Smart Gun technology that would make guns useless to anyone except the owner. Most people are happy that their Smart Phones have similar technology because chances are good these days if you leave your Smart Phone lying on the bench in your gym locker you will get it back. 5 years ago you would have been out of a phone.

It isn't the guns or the not guns anymore, it is the utter deadlock of the two sides that continues into the 21st Century that is most frustrating. We've lost a fair number of Americans senselessly, and the number continues to rise. When are we going to do something?!
When I need my gun, the last thing I want to do is be digging for batteries.

You have never really needed a gun in your entire life...

It doesn't matter what the reason someone has. Let's understand something, if you have gun that was built 100 years ago and maintained well it just going to work as well as a new one. Well made firearms do not have an expiration date. You don't have to worry about a dead battery, you don't have to worry about hardware failures, you don't have to worry about it crashing and you certainly do not have to worry about it becoming obsolete. With a well made gun you pull the trigger and it's going to fire thousands of times in a row.

This tech is going to need to be proven reliable before you will see wide adoption and you are going to need options like the ability to disable it. As long as that gun law in New Jersey exists mandating that all guns have it once available no gun manufacturer is going to go near it. If you want to see this tech make it's way ionto the market I would urge you to contact New Legislators and have them repeal this law.

Not many people really need the air bags in their car either. Not many people really ever need a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. Not many people ever really need a warm blanket in their car.

Shall I go on?

No the number DOES NOT continue to rise! When you don't even have a minimal basic grasp of the FACTS how can you expect anyone to listen to anything you have to say? You're totally ignorant on the topic and sure that you know "something" needs to be done when you're completely wrong about the reality.

Homicides are half what they were 20 years ago and you want to do something? If liberals had their way the crime rates would have been going up for the last 20 years, not down.

Should the GOP and NRA supported the bill that would have blocked those on the terror list for 72 hours from buying a gun? Permanently with a court order.

Sounds reasonable to me, why would they not support that?
This argument that bathtubs, pools, etc., is ridiculous. Laws will be passed to restrict access to guns while some NRA worshipers will be doing nothing constructive but mumbling about, "bathtubs! pools! cars! but..but..but..."
