I assume this is a step towards enforcing? The constitution clearly says the courts have every right to take away any of your rights as punishment for a crime. While I believe some should never be touched, like voting, and others really aren't touched either, like religion or speech, some should be taken in certain cases like that of a violent crime resulting in a loss of a right to bear arms.

It's fair and reasonable.

And of course, as a citizen, whomever has lost their right should always have the right to petition to have the right returned, and if someone with a history of violence has proven that he has gotten his life back together (not that he could, that he has), then I think a discussion could be had to bring his right back.

I'm a fan of discourse and avoiding broad brushes.

Look up Lautenberg Act.

It was already illegal for those suspected of domestic abuse to own a gun.

Once again, more useless laws are made when enforcement of existing laws would have worked.

Did I already say knee-jerk once before.........................

Again, I need to question. If we can't trust them with guns, why aren't they in prison already?

Don't disagree. The 2 dissenting Justices were Thomas and Sotomayor. Interesting combination.

She was also on his side last week on the 4th amendment case. She's turning out to be quite consistent and believe she understands the constitution well.

the real problem is that many women who are victims of domestic violence don't even report it because they "love the guy" or think they can change him.
First of all some don't understand - shyte. Men break you down mentally long before get physical. Do your homework before blabbering . Domestic violence is about control... And fear. And if you know, many end in death. Shame on some still want to blame the woman for what? protect the right for some piece of shyte can own a gun? some laws need to change. We do not live in George Washington's day

Sorry you appear to be touched pretty personally by this, but nowhere did ANY poster blame the woman for being abused nor has anyone advocated for the SOB keeping his rights.

It is a sad predicament, but unfortunately until domestic abuse is reported not much can be done about it.
