I find it interesting that so many posters that have in the past said that failure to follow the orders of law enforcement with 100% instant compliance is reasonable grounds for police officers to use deadly force seem to believe that those rules no longer apply when it is a white girl mouthing off and physically attacking police officers.

It's a frightened, mentally challenged person who cannot hear well and does not understand what is wanted of her.

The TSA people involved have clearly not been trained to deal with such a situation.

Now you now I covered this six weeks ago in this thread. All they had to do is call the Airline in head of time and the Airline would have assigned her a escort from the check-in counter, through security and all the way to the gate and got her seated if needed. And if needed, the reverse would have been done at their destination, including getting luggage, all the way to their car if needed. So, it's as easy as dialing a phone.

You can tell someone is mentally disabled just by looking at her?

The mother sat down because the TSA agents told her to.

The mother had had a broken foot. How is that relevant?

The interesting thing is that the TSA knows sequins set off alarms but does not think it is necessary to tell the public not to wear them. The incident was preventable. I fly several times a year, have read the TSA info on various websites, and do not recall ever seeing the recommendation to not wear sequins through security.

13 Things TSA Security Won't Tell You*|*Reader's Digest

"Don’t wear shirts or pants with extraneous pockets, buttons, or zippers, or anything with sequined bling on it. These items tend to appear suspicious on the scanner, which is programmed to flag anything out of the ordinary."

From the TSA site, no mention of sequins:

https://www.tsa.gov/travel/frequently-asked-questions

"To reduce the likelihood of an alarm that results in pat-down screening, remember to remove all items from your pockets before you go through screening. You should avoid wearing clothes, shoes and jewelry with a high metal content."

It seems sequin incidents are not uncommon:

Excuse Me Miss

"As the security guard passed over the areas that had been flagged by the body scanner, she had an epiphany regarding what caused the system to panic. 'You seem to have too much bling on your shirt,' pointing to the sequins and beaded gems on my wardrobe. 'Now you know what shirts are not airport appropriate.'â€

Now? Why not publicize the problem so people know not to wear such clothing when flying?
Publicize it?? People don't read. Next time you fly look for something that looks like a large trash can. If by chance you can see into it, you'll see numerous items that were confiscated and many items that have been on the list since day one. Keep in mind that may not be the first can of the day.

Example list:
TSA Permitted and Prohibited Items List

So what's next, we walk a groups of passengers into rooms and read the entire list to them so they know what has to removed before heading to security?

There is no mention of sequins at your link. How do you read it if it is not there?

How about just letting us know about clothing that may cause problems? The other things people have to discard are specifically warned about.

I found several stories about clothing with sequins being a problem at screening. It appears to happen often enough that a mention of it on the TSA site seems justified. One poster in the travel forum here on CD had the same thing happen to her when she wore a shirt with sequins and beads through the scanner, earning her a pat down.

Then there is this:

How to avoid TSA scanners & look fabulous at the same time!

Also, the difference in this case is that the person involved is mentally challenged, hard of hearing and did not understand why she was being separated from her mother.

There are major differences. In an airport the TSA has almost total control of the environment. Also there was zero chance that hte little girl was physically stronger than the officer, or so cranked on drugs that she was unstoppable.

TSA are not cops. They are minimum wage private security and are terrible at their job.

That's 100% correct. It's just another government welfare program.

Perhaps America's most visible example of affirmative action at it's finest.
