Robotics, and deep neural network tech is evolving. Google's Deepmind was able to beat a Go grand master. So I think it is a matter of time for us to start to automate many functions previously done by police departments. With the spree of "bad judgement" employed by cops. It seems that the biggest liability in police work is the human element. As robots are gaining more dexterity, it's natural language capabilities are improving, and it's inability to make the same mistakes a human can, I see robots are a feasible alternative to a "human" police force. Also robot cops will always be able to record the details of every arrest, and can apprehend suspects in a non leathal way. They can also use machine learning and big data to build predictive models about where crime is likely to appear.

I think the initial investment would be quite high. But I do think the cost would be cheaper for robot police in the future. They usually can't get injured, and I you don't need to pay them medical insurance or pay them at all for that matter. They have no sense of panic or fear, and will always make the right decisions in every situation. I do think we should start to heavily consider a robotic police force.

Robocops please, as long as they aren't trained using racist training data.

right, robocops on the streets, that sounds great until they have a systems failure, or they are hacked by some ne'er do well to submit to their evil plans.

This is a limitation of machine learning. A robot would be using deep learning or "feature extractions" so it's not subject to "racism". It's neural network will keep evolving, and be relatively non-partisan and non-racist.

Uhmmm. No. They really aren't hard to hack generally. (Specifically by anyone with sufficient knowledge, and theres a LOT of folks capable of doing this.)

Its will only evolve if it's an online learning system. Neural networks require offline learning on training data.

Awesome it's something I'm heavily studying now. I do think AI has a lot of applicability in the field of law enforcement. I do know some machine learning, but not quite as knowledgeable about deep learning and neural net outside of the basics.

you cant be serious can you? people have hacked modern cars as old as 2015 models, do you really think that a robot cant be hacked? perhaps you should stop posting on an internet forum and start writing comedy instead.

Pretty sure most people won't be able to hack robots. And they have to be able to steal them to hack them, which I don't see happening very often.
