A 10 year window? More like a 10 week window if that. These events are really picking up speed.

You do realize that with the people with a military background and the National Guard, you're talking about Martial Law.

Default Police Leave Larger Departments All The Time

You think liberal hot beds like LA, Chicago, and San Francisco have low turnover?

Suburbs of large cities have been attracting larger, metro police for decades. This isn't new. Trying to say one event causes mad exodus simply isn't true.
Yeah, very true. It never made sense to me that a Cop on Long Island for instance-with not nearly as much to do-will have a starting salary of $100,000+ while next door in the largest city in the country, NYC, they start at $40,000 something.

Yup.

Same with fire and EMS.

The cost of living if TX is higher than a lot of people think. All the PR from the governor about our low cost of living and glut of jobs is rhetoric. The truth is, we make up is low real estate prices by paying boatloads of taxes and other hidden fees (particularly tolls for toll roads, of which we have a LOT). And we have many jobs but most are low paying.

Houston is going to go bankrupt when they have to start paying the police and fire retirement they agreed to some years back. The local paper did many articles about it. A city cop can make around 125000 a year with overtime. Their retirement will just about equal the salaries.

In Texas, even school districts have their own police department. That way, they can keep stuff private, no reporting, etc. My district of 47000 students has 40+ cops and a jail with cells for 8 kids. Most of the cops came from the county sheriff's department.

The football coach at a large mediocre school makes over 125K a year.

The median annual Police Patrol Officer salary in Dallas, TX is $52,991, as of June 24, 2016, with a range usually between $44,136-$62,536 not including bonus and benefit information and other factors that impact base pay.

Not really a lot for putting your life on the line everyday.

Dallas Teachers

newly hired teachers with more than two years of teaching experience will have the ability to earn a base salary of $58,000, with the capacity in the coming years to earn up to $90,000
