If he had started to use that weapon to defend the cops he likely would have been shot by one.

By all accounts he is one of the good guys. When his pic went up on social media he both turned himself into the police and offered to help in any way he could. Guess what? He didn't fit the BoweL Movement narrative-he wasn't shot for being a black man with a gun. Since he is both a "good guy" and reportedly an NRA member, this will most likely get buried by the MSM.

I haven't held real positive thoughts about "blacklivesmatter" in the past, but I have to say : He and his brother conducted themselves really well during that whole episode. I hope things turn out OK for them.

I love my guns and carry mine concealed wherever I legally can. But given what happened, its not unreasonable that the police needed to talk to him.

As others have said, this is Texas and he will be fine. It was an inconvenience but nothing more.

It is worth noting though that this guy cooperated with police and is still alive. Hell, he even had a scary rifle. Seems like there could be a lesson there.

He carried it because he can, and because the educational outreach he provides allows surprised viewers to know that instruments of self defense are not contraband in a free, liberty-valuing state.

Defending the cops with his weapon isn't his job.

If you really want to be helpful in a heavy shooting situation like the one in Dallas, then, get the hell out of there. You'll be one civilian less that the cops have to worry about.

The man who walked around showing of his weapon in the middle of a protest is an idiot of indescribable proportions.

There is a time and a place for everything and he exercised extremely poor judgement. It's legal, so what message are you trying to convey?

People like that guy walk and breathe unassisted as the result of dumb luck, good genes and the liberal use of antibiotics. I admit I have helped to save the lives of dumbasses like that.

A lot of onlookers nationwide, including on these threads, were surprised that an ordinary citizen is allowed to carry an unloaded rifle in public in Texas (and if they research, in several other states that haven't been nannied). That's a good enough reason.

This whole thing about cops shooting good guys in active shooter situations is BS. If a cop can't tell someone engaging a gunman and someone gunning down kids or whatever they need to go flip burgers.

And if a cop shoots someone who isn't a threat he needs to be fired. I guess that it what got us where we are today.

A lot of idiot onlookers nationwide need to read the law and constitution and get their heads out of the sand.
