This is awesome - good on all involved. See, reconciliation and unity are possible. There's a clip on the officer's Instagram feed of a little boy walking up to his window, greeting him with a "Hello, Sir" and the officer praising him for his good manners. This lightened my heart so much, after a heavy week.
That's a nice gesture and compensation package for a man in blue. Maybe if more police officers were compensated based on merit, and not time spent at a department, the quality of service would improve.

That is true.
I know a cop who says pay is largely Union based like teaching. As a teacher it is demotivating. It doesn't matter if I bust my butt or do just enough to not get fired - I make the same. Thanks union!
