Despite its demographic inertia, the Republican Party has not been without its moments of change. The tea party movement, which rose up from the grassroots in 2009, has significantly altered the way the GOP conducts its business. But the party’s “revolution” was led not by young men and women storming the barricades but by the gray-haired masses sitting down in their Adirondack Chairs and fighting to keep things as they have been. According to a 2010 New York Times/CBS News poll of tea party supporters, 75 percent were 45 or older. In keeping with Republican Party trends, the group was also overwhelmingly white, at 89 percent, and only 23 percent had a college degree.

Yeah because putting on masks or bandannas covering your face, destroying and burning crap down while assaulting people who think differently really ushers in good change.....If you're a young misguided punk that is

#1 Conservatives have always skewed older. Those who "die off" will be replaced by younger people who move to the right as they get older and see the world as it is, not as they want it to be. This is not a new development.

#2 With TP members being older, they're from a generation that didn't rely as much on a college degree for their careers like young people do now, thus educational attainment is going to be lower for older people. That does not equate to unintelligent or misinformed. Having a college degree does not make you any more credible than non-grads when it comes to completely unrelated fields. An "uneducated" 65-year-old plumber is probably more informed on socioeconomic and political issues than an "educated" 24-year-old with a degree in computer science.

Though if you really want to know who the truly uneducated support, Obama won high-school dropouts against both McCain and Romney by about 2:1.

Hmm...

So, the face of the TEA Party is mature people who are non-violent blue collar workers while the face of the Democratic Party is the OWS crowd is the young hipster prone to violence living with their parents as they cry about having their laptops stolen between tent rapes.

Got it.

We've been trying to broaden the tent to include your typical Obama voter but it's been slow going so far:

That's who eventually took over the GOP, as well as who provided its presidential nominee this year.

So who co-opted whom?

Speaking of broken glass, a police officer in Ohio just got hospitalized for biting into a sandwich at a cafe that contained broken glass.

FUBARd indeed.
