The officer who shot the dog told the family that the dog had lunged at him through the fence.
So the dog was in a fenced yard....and the cop was outside that fence.
Quote:
Wynnewood Police Chief Ken Moore stood behind the officer’s actions, saying the dog was vicious and had come around the corner of the house outside the fence and charged at the officer.
However, Fox 25 said that the video from the scene of the incident they reviewed contradicts the officer’s story. Opie’s body is lying inside the fence with a gunshot wound to the head.
Ahhh.... Get called out for a clear screw up. Lie to cover it. Get busted by video evidence. Getting to be very common.

The officer who shot the dog had come to the Malone home to serve a warrant to a person who lived there 10 years ago.
Chief Moore said that the police department was aware that the Malone family had been in the house for a year and that the officer had been advised that the address was a rental property through which people had “moved in and out” over the years.
So he was there to serve a 10 year old warrant, at an address he knew was bad.
Move along, nothing to see, just cops doing their job....their dangerous job...keeping you safe...from dogs in fenced in yards.
There is bad cops out there and very poor police practices. Dogs unnecessarily being shot, break the door down tactics etc. It's unfortunate that the focus has been on incidents like Michael Brown instead of forwarding the discussion on what is a very real problem for all races. I despise the BLM crowd for this.
This sort of c--pola will continue as long as cops keep standing up for the action of their bad actors. As long as they are trained to consider every interaction with citizens as an us vs. them situation and every citizen they see is a potential violent criminal and must be treated as such. I think one solution would be to stop hiring combat veterans unless they have at least 2 years of police training. Combat house clearing and occupation duty makes for a very bad police officer. Add in a lack of adequate PTSD therapy for returning vets and you have a very bad mix.
