He used to always say "and shyt" after everything he said... I've done that since I was about 15 and that was 30 yrs ago.. still do it... he's probably been one of the greatest comedy influences in my life... Love that guy... always have and always will.
Here is the problem... If you as white man speaks Ebonics you won't be judged negatively by society, or judged the way you speak the same as a black person would. You wouldn't be judged as less intelligent or incompetent based on the way you speak.

So... what is the is issue... what causes black folks to be incarcerated at higher rates... it insn't because they aren't smarter.... no one in a million years believes that... not by a long shot....

What is the elephant in the room... what is the gold candy bar.... in layman's terms....
Why would you ask what causes blacks to be incarcerated at higher rates if that's not what the thread is about?

Blacks and whites use drugs at similar rates but do you know who is more likely to go jail for it? Has this ever crossed your mind? Do you most people incarerated are not there for violent crimes?

Yes what is the elephant in the room? What is your take.

I wonder if I went to a largely black or Asian country I wonder if I'd be treated poorly by the natives... makes you think twice about things.
If it's an Asian country, you'd probably be better treated as a white person than if you were black. That's not unheard of in China, Korea, and Japan. They unfortunately do have a hierarchy of how they view foreigners, unfortunately.

I used to work with a young Asian guy and he would make the most racist stereotype jokes about Asians than I would even imagine. LOL... not sure where that came from, but whatever. He was a good dude and I respected the hell out of him for his work contributions. I never joined him in his negative anti-inflammatory rhetoric.
I'm Chinese American, born and raised in California. 53 years old.

Growing up in a largely white suburb, I'd get a little bit of that stupid "ching-chong Chinaman" taunting, or stupid comments about slant eyes. Didn't have any big major public celebrities who were Asian American growing up. So when Bruce Lee came on to the scene, that was a big deal. He was a guy who stood up to folks who sought to denigrate him. And he married a white girl too!

The stereotype of the "hardworking" model minority isn't necessarily positive. I've heard resentment from non-Asian students at college complaining about Asian students "wrecking the curve" or that they're all "book smart but not well rounded", both as a student, and also in my current function as an educational consultant.

But that said, on an everyday basis, I don't encounter racism. And I'm happy to say that thanks to greater numbers of Asians in our community, my daughter doesn't have to experience what I have. In fact, the white kids at her school think it's cool to learn Chinese slang.

So I think things are better than ever.

On a greater scale of things, even though life is good for me and my family, being Asian American does make me a bit aware that even after 150 years of history in this country, we're still often seen as perpetual foreigners. One of my personal goals is to work to change that - to show we are just as American as anyone else.

I'm tired of how everything in America is always, always, about black and white.

The only time other races are even mentioned in the media is discussion of illegal immigration, terrorism on US soil, things of that sort.

There are other races across America too, you know.

Back to the thread topic... have you seen or experienced racism??? White or black or purple????
I HAVE caught "racism" from SOME Blacks, American Indians and "Hispanics".

For example, I think a lot of asians (NOT all, definitely not all), but a lot of them looking down on black and Latinos. My sister is now engaged to be married to a black guy (well, first black guy in my family) An asian lady in the church said, my sister has slept with the color of rainbow, (or something like that)

This lady encouraged her daughter to date white men, but since my sister chose to marry to a black guy, she has problem with that, I guess.

Not all asians are like that, but many are. As a mixed race girl, I don't really have a group of "my people" that I feel I must be faithful to. My people are those who respect me and love me, skin colors don't matter.
That IS weird since Asians as a group DON'T seem to be upset over "1 of their own" marrying a white person, especially if similar Asians ain't single and can't be had. But; it seems that American Indians, Hispanics and especially dark skin Black people are "off limits".

That IS some real strange prejudice there; coming from your Chicana G/F's parents back in high school since both you AND her probably looked like "typical" Hispanic people.

Racists are a cowardly lot, so why pick on someone that could fight back when you can pick on children and women right? Dylan Roof talks about how "we" are rapists and killers, referring to us as gang bangers , ruining "pure" white Christian women with our tainted... well I won't go there, but it's so absurd it's hard not to laugh... Anyway, what does he do? Shoots up a peaceful black church. There is no logic among their type. Thing is, I'm a half breed but people insist I identify with a side, so they choose for me, guess which one?

That being said, as a child I've had people driving by toss their garbage at me while walking to school. From water balloons with the N word from the window, to empty beer bottles with the N word shouted from the window. I've witness parents teaching their kids to call me names and pick on me, had a little fat girl sing the N word song. Teacher let it be, was smiling from afar while I was crying.

The feeling that you're alone at that age I wouldn't recommend. It does get better, made a nice network of friends. The angry racist kids either rebelled or dropped out of school. You probably heard this line before "I don't want the public schools teaching my kid your evil liberal ways" So things like racial tolerance was considered "evil" but they won't come right out and say it, even now. So they fall back on the BS that the Bible should be the forefront of teaching over Math, Science, Etc. As I grew into a teen, I would be on constant alert that some of the other white teens who want to pick a fight. I was assumed to be prone to violence, it's in my nature etc. Granted I could of fought back, but at a young age I knew the odds were stacked against me. Was with a bunch of teens who were playing behind the stage at a junior high... I was the only one that got detention. Also was a fat kid, in HS we had a sub PE teacher made me run an entire mile, just out of spite. Whenever she subs, I would do more push ups and situps. There were more fatter kids than me but it eventually came clear she referred to me as "troublemaker" even tough I've never done anything to earn that.

Some parents would kick me out of friends houses the moment they wanted to bring me home. Grown adults calling me the N word and throwing me out like an intruder, or having that one nosy paranoid neighbor calling the cops when you're just sitting outside your own home.

The full frontal racism gradually declined, my more whiter features started to show and I don't grow an Afro anymore. Struggled with dating, learned that people view me as nothing more than a "thug" so it made me a bitter wreck for a while. Still get the occasional spook from certain folk and dumb religious people who can't comprehend what an interracial person looks like. I've learned that while some Christians are good, there are alot that are awful. What gets me are the anti-semetic ones. Jesus was a Jew but fair weather Christians downplay that... sorry off on a tangent.

Dating was rough, had one woman flat out tell me when I asked her out... despite us being cool, is that she doesn't date Nwords. Never talked since.... she literally felt offended when I asked her for a date... though with valley women dating is a HUGE deal. Other than that most of my failures were due to being "economically challenged" to put it nicely... and fat.

There's plenty of stories, but I'll get to the point. This election year sucks. I do not like either candidate. Say what you will about Sanders and his s-s-s-socialism, but he was the real deal. Sad thing is we'd get destroyed with tax burdens.

I'm looking at reluctantly voting for Hilary. Seems my choice is between a political criminal and a racist enforcer. Sanders kind of sold us out, but I think in the end he didn't have much of a choice. Hilary won't let his ideas come to light.

Trump... I wanted to like him at first, until he went ham on Mexicans, I can understand his take on Muslims, and even agree that globalization is killing our economy. His tax plans seem reasonable out of what was then, all three candidates. What really convinced me he's a dangerous man, was him getting endorsed by Neo Nazis and KKK, both very unAmerican by historical standards which took him some time to disavow. Though I'm wondering if he did this sooner, he'd lose votes. Seems crackpotish, but I want to get the impression Trump is playing his hard core supporters. He is a business man afterall, and he has done it for a long time. I mean all you have to do is say alt-right talking points and get the racist seals clapping their fins and hooting... the RNC revealed this all to well. He can't talk about the victims shot/abused by law enforcement, but want's to find measures to protect them... doesn't sound right but his hardcore supporters would boo the moment he says something akin police reform.

There's been talk that Trump has been acting this whole time, I want to find some links, but it'll take some time. Trump has been known to lie real big, backtrack on some issues and flat out DENY claims. Perhaps he had to lie to get this far in the election, rally up support from even the worse common denominators (MRA, Alt Right, fair weather Christians, etc)... and if that was the case, I can't blame him. Going against Hilary, he knew exactly what to say and considering he gets more support form the alt-right and former Sanders supporters, he's has a good hand. It also could be, that Trump has far more to lose if Hilary gets elected and he couldn't allow it to happen. Make no mistake, his ego is huge, but I want to wish that he's just playing the bad people for suckers to get elected and actually work on fixing this country.
I live down the hill from Kingman in Bullhead and; the Walmart by the 40 gives me the creeps looking at those scuzzy PWT people and, I'm def "white". So if I'm edgy in that store; I def understand you really feeling that way about K town. It has a weird vibe.
