“I was raised by parents who taught me to love and respect people regardless of their race or background, so I am saddened and frustrated by the divisive rhetoric and racial tensions that seem to be getting worse as of late....." I was raised the same way by my parents and it is so distressing to see the divide happening.

He has stepped up in a big way. Nice to see someone of his celebrity work to bring us together. That is a true leader.

A product of good parenting from a family not destroyed by the welfare state.

He's on point. Most people that are rational and sensible would agree with what he's saying. Glad to hear someone of his caliber and fame approach things in a rational way.

Verbally supports and donates money to both sides - very safe - but I won't argue that both sides have some housekeeping to do.

I applaud Michael for standing up and trying to promote peace between our cultures. I was a big fan of MJ as a kid for his basketball ability. I am as big a fan of MJ as an adult for his choice to be a human being.

Yet, we see some of the same people who just can't realize that what MJ is doing is all it takes for us all to get along. Instead, because a black man is trying to do good in the world he is being criticized by some black people. Why criticize someone for trying to bring some positivity into our communities? Does that make him an Uncle Tom because he doesn't relate specifically to the black condition and shun white people? Absolutely not. It makes him human, which is what we should all strive for.

Who said anything about him being an Uncle Tom?

So everyone is mandated to love a character as weasly as Michael Jordan?

He's a butthole, and it ain't like that's some well kept secret.

Yep, and it's high time someone remembers it. Unlike all the musicians who complain about their music being played for half the country. Do they not realize that Republicans also buy their music? In fact, they are more likely to buy it than download it for free.

Yeah, he is a butthole, and I say this as a Bulls fan who loved his run.

But, he's addressing the problem with both sides and putting his money where his mouth is. I say good for him.

I like successful jerks a lot more than good natured slugs. The only reason I am near most people is because of trade. Other wise I'd prefer a little scenery.
