Correct which is why the Senate has abdicated that responsibility for minor treaties, this in no minor treaty. It was made quite clear to Iran and the counties involved with this deal that the administration had no legal authority to unilaterally sign it.

Because Iran doesn't get the planes it needs, I would venture to guess they need them for domestic and short regional flights.

Obama circumvented Congress by not putting this up for a vote because he wasn't going to get his way. If there is anyone that has acted like a petulant child it's Obama. It should have never gotten to this point to begin with, it's his actions that are causing this.

What is irresponsible is signing a deal with Iran that clearly did not have the support of the Senate.
So your alright with the house attempting to kill off the deal because Iran will buy an inferior product from another country, would you feel the same way if you were a Boeing employee?

The deal was already approved there is absolutely no reason for congress to act like this, there are other sanctions in place and selling of planes to Iran was approved, until now.

Moving anything forward with this congress is a non-starter, senate support is a contradiction of terms.

If you want to push Iran into towards the right this would be a good start, hopefully the senate has more common sense but it will be vetoed in any event. Maybe that was there point to show their constituents they tried and failed.

So let me get this straight.

There is this country that uses the term "death to America" as its basic political slogan... mainly because they hate American and want to destroy us...

Then there is this political party in America that has repeatedly sought to help said 'death to America' chanting country, get the means to actually cause the death of America....

There is this other party in America that is saying "hey how about we don't hand 'deathtoamericacountry' the means of killing us.... and THIS PARTY is the party that wants to destroy America.

really? you people expect us to believe you?

LOL

If we can get along with Russia with nuclear warheads trained on us we can get along with anybody, or we can do more of the same since that worked so well.

It's not worth going to war or taking a step back because of a slogan.

Yes they will make those commercial aircraft into F16's, armed with all the ordinance and electronics and wipe out the US.

It doesn't matter what other countries think, they don't dictate the laws of this country. The Constitution is quite clear in that a treaty or agreement with another nation/nations requires a 2/3 consent of the Senate. Over the years the Senate has abdicated some of this responsibility as a practical matter allowing the administration to negotiate and sign minor treaties. Without consent of the Senate it's non binding and anything major like this should be put up for a vote. Without that vote it's subject to new laws and or the stroke of pen of a sitting President. I will again refer you to the Kyoto Protocol as an example.
It's amazing how much hatred you folks have for the Iranian people....a group that's never done anything wrong to this country unless they were provoked.

You guys just love poking that Persian bear. But when he bites your ass, you cry about the consequences.

Guess what kids? We're going to Iran for our vacation.

Why?

Daddy wants us to stay in a hotel a dirt floor and there will be plenty of swarthy men ready to grope you and your sister.
A hell of a lot of Iran is nicer than where you live.

If Iran is going to get their frozen money back, we may as well have them spend some of it in the US.
