My opinion is that he'd rather use 'reliable' workers who work hard and keep their mouths shut. You know, less drama and more results.

Reading the never ending gripe threads of petty disgruntled posters on the employment section of the forum, where posters cry and moan that their supervisor didn't say hi to them or a coworker talks too much about pet Fido, I think Trump is onto something.

And he ain't the only one, feel me?
The little people are getting uppity. Time to bring in some workers who face deportation if they lose their job. Keeps them in line.

69 florida workers aren't important, but 700 Indiana workers are more important and should be subsidized by taxpayers for $7 million?

You pick and choose which American jobs are more important and which ones can have their jobs replaced by a foreign worker who comes into the US with the specific intent to work (instead of giving that job to an American)?

The 69 US workers in Florida wouldn't even need taxpayers to subsidize their wages yet the 700 Indiana workers at Carrier needed Indiana taxpayers to subsidize their wages.

Double standard?

Actually, Trump voters are mastering apologetics for the total about face of Trump since the election.

Publix Supermarkets in Florida doesn't seem to have a problem hiring people during Season. So who do they get? OLD PEOPLE looking to make extra money who do not want a full time job. You will be hard pressed to see a Seasonal cashier in the Publix where I live under the age of 60.

Then there is the Public School District. From about November through March there is never a problem getting Subs. Retired Snowbird Teachers, who from the comments they made to me, miss teaching and just want to be around the children.

Ever consider maybe stay at home mothers who don't want/can't have full time jobs but only want to make some extra money for a short time period? I did that myself when my children were school age.

I should go ask them at Publix how much they pay their Seasonal workers. Want to make a bet it is more than Trump pays his H2b workers?

The H2B Visa Program was created in 1986. There were 62 visas issued in 1987. Congress sets an annual statutory cap. H2B Visas are generally good for 3 years, after which the Visa Holder must leave the US for at least 3 months.

In 2005, Congress changed the rules so that returning Visa Holders do NOT count towards caps. The actual number of those employed under the H2B Visa is multiples of the annual cap.

Depending on source, the number of Visa Holders employed in the US peaked in 2007-8.

The powerful Chamber of Commerce lobbies Congress to expand the statutory cap. They also lobby against e- Verify.

The top 5 sources for H2B workers:

Mexico
Jamaica
Philippines
Guatelmala
Romania

Throughout the campaign, Trump has consistently advocated for making it easier for foreign workers to be legally employed in the US. Why would anyone be surprised that Trump Org continues to hire H2 B Visa Workers?

In 2005, Congress determined that returning H2B Visa holders did not count against caps. Therefore it's likely the number working under H2 B Visas is actually multiples of what it appears, 200,000 workers.

By law, they must be paid the prevailing local wage for the job function.

H2B workers typically are employed in the hospitality, grounds keeping, meat/ fish packing businesses and are not necessarily temporary or seasonal job functions or small businesses.

Speculation on my part that many H2B Visa workers may be more reliable and harder working than some of their US counterparts, given they just cannot just quit or risk being fired. They are more likely to show up on time in a sober state, and do whatever it takes to sustain employment, including demonstrating a "servant's heart".

Actually not very many. Note that as a private company, he does not have to provide figures, but....

Trump's Employee Exaggeration in Jersey - FactCheck.org

Quote:
PrivCo, which provides financial and business data on major privately-held companies, estimates that the Trump Organization worldwide has 22,450 employees.
Quote:
PrivCo says the Trump Organization includes “28 luxury hotels, resorts and residential towers in the US and abroad in Seoul, Panama City, Istanbul, Toronto and Manila,” and “operates restaurants, skating rinks, a modeling agency, and 12 golf courses in the US and Scotland,” among other businesses.
Remember how many bankruptcies he has had - he owns less than he used to.

Trump again hires foreign workers for Mar-a-Lago | www.mypalmbeachpost.com

Trump's Mar-a-Lago hires hundreds of foreign workers - Mar. 18, 2016

There is no excuse for this. None.
In 2005, Congress determined posting a " legal notice" in the back of a local paper for 2 days qualifies as recruitment. Congress also determined that returning H2B Visa Workers do not count against the Visa Cap or allotment. The number of people employed under the H2 B Visa Program is multiples of the annual cap and allotment.

You have no proof of the accuracy of your assertion
Like Trump's propensity for making pronouncements on topics he knows nothing about and expecting --correctly unfortunately--people will treat them as truth...
A seasonal job at MarALago would be fairly easy to fill even at $12.50 an hour because of tip potential
Plenth of people in FL work jobs for less
Point is he didnt want to try looking gor US workers
Does min to meet law's requirements
Google Trump H2b visas and read the history

He's paying them less than he did last year, too.

Trump's Mar-A-Lago hiring foreign workers again - KFDA - NewsChannel 10 / Amarillo News, Weather, Sports

If he's supposed to be all about jobs, the least he could do is set an example in his own businesses.
