Socialism has never made anyone rich. Relying on government handouts is no way to go thru life. The Democrats have bought the black vote thru welfare payments. What good has that done the Black community? Is generational welfare really that nice? I'd rather take my chances and start my own business than rely on Democrats to give me $1,200/month for Section 8 housing and food stamps.
Now starting your own business is another complicated issue. And that is where we get into economic theories from Rothbard. Right now, our economic system is making it harder and harder for small businesses to succeed, including black businesses. And our economic system is certainly rigged when it comes to minority groups. There are markets that black and minorities are nearly absent in such as being a fund manager, which is totally based on a "good ol boy" system.

In the eyes of law-and-order conservatives, the police have effectively been tasked with containing the squalor created by decades of liberal folly. Nitpicking the way they go about this nasty job just seems like a bridge too far.

A true “law and order” conservative should demand good laws, and real order.
Do you support "law and order" or do you support liberty? If you support liberty, then you should be critical of the police force we have today. And if you are a true free market conservative, you would be heavily think about how the market can address these issues.

Here's Sowell's and William's message:

* Don't do drugs.
* Don't have kids out of wedlock.
* Raise your kids with the goal that their life will be better than your own.
* Don't break the law.
* Work hard.
* Get an education

Do those things, and black America can kiss generational welfare goodbye (poor white people, too, but we're talking about blacks right now).

well, since you claim to be a free market conservative / Libertarian, then I hope you don't mind a real discussion.

According to this FREE MARKET logic, government shouldn’t intrude through minimum wages, high taxes on top earners, public spending to get people back to work, regulations on business, or anything else, because the “free market” knows best.

In reality, the “free market” is a bunch of rules about (1) what can be owned and traded (the genome? slaves? nuclear materials? babies? votes?); (2) on what terms (equal access to the internet? the right to organize unions? corporate monopolies? the length of patent protections? ); (3) under what conditions (poisonous drugs? unsafe foods? deceptive Ponzi schemes? uninsured derivatives? dangerous workplaces?) (4) what’s private and what’s public (police? roads? clean air and clean water? healthcare? good schools? parks and playgrounds?); (5) how to pay for what (taxes, user fees, individual pricing?). And so on.

These rules don’t exist in nature; they are human creations.

You assume that the average black person doesn't know this, and they do. Liberals and conseratives alike say this stuff. I think the devil is in the details

I hear you loud and clear. It's VERY hard to open a business, but if you have the right drive, you can do it. Look at the Vietnamese and other Asian immigrants. Those people were dirt effing poor, and look at all the businesses they've opened up. That kind of spirit is what Black America needs to tap into.

Get into an Immigrant mentality. That nothing or nobody is going to stop me because I will work 24/7 until I succeed....and my kids will be high achievers. Chinese and Indians have flocked to my upper-middle class, white, local school district recently---I don't agree with everything they do----but those kids work very hard in school....put the white kids to shame. I respect that.

I doubt any post of mine will change your outlook, but let me put this out there. TIm Scott has been a good soldier in the Conservative movement, and yet when he spoke about about police brutality, no one listened even as he made a speech from the Senate floor.

My point is, what you argued in the above is exactly what Republicans do . You just happen to agree with them doing it.

Don't forget Stephanie Trussell. If you haven't discovered her yet you are in for a pleasant surprise.

She has a Facebook page and a radio show on WLS -AM890 Sunday nights at 9:00pm.

If people with her common sense, authenticity and kindness were in charge it would go a long way toward solving many problems.

A fund manager? I'm not talking about that kind of job. I'm talking about starting a plumbing or electrical business, a gas station, a hotel, a restaurant, etc. etc. The Asian immigrants who came to America dirt poor have great success with these kinds of businesses. Heck, Asians are richer than White Americans on a per capita basis----I've argued that America should let any Asian immigrant into this country (outside of Indonesia and Bangladesh).

have you seen the sit-com "Black-ish"?

funny show... but my point is, they ran an episode last year where their teenage son came home from school and declared himself to be a republican. The parents hit the roof and said there is no such thing as a black conservative, just a few tokens.

A funny clip
