But seriously I'm not sure if they'd spend money having another convention of that magnitude. Perhaps a scaled down version to nominate and accept.

Actually that's an interesting question. What if a terrorist attack took out both candidates, what then? Obama's JV team is out there.

The national committee would meet and choose a replacement, much like happened when Eagleton withdrew for Vice President in 1972 and was replaced by Shriver.
