His teachings, much of which were taken from the Old Testament, are subject to interpretation, just like Christ's words and teachings are subject to interpretation. Which is why there are literally thousands of different sects and churches, all with their own personal interpretation of Christianity. You do realize that there are many different versions of Islam, all based on different interpretations?

All 4 schools of Sunni Islam, have a consensus that the punishment for apostasy from Islam is death.
