Secularism is a belief system that also rejects religion.
Stop mixing contexts. In the context of politics its about keeping unfalsifiable beliefs out of the public sphere, not to be confused with philosophical secularism.
The US can blame most of its domestic problems on retaining a permanent underclass which has nothing to do with religion but everything to do with government and culture.
