Soldiers will become a common site at tourist hotspots on the continent following a series of high profile terror attacks, including the Bastille Day massacre in Nice.

France is still in a state of national emergency which was imposed in the aftermath of the Paris terror attacks, carried out by Islamic State (ISIS) gunmen, whilst Spain is also facing a growing Islamist threat.

Not to the citizens so they could protect themselves but to the police and pseudo military so they could watch them.

I think it is a smart move. When you think about it beaches are wide open and packed with easy targets and a couple of terrorists could get very close to the beach in a boat before any knew what was going on, beach the boat and start killing.

With the armed guards the terrorists might think twice and if not then the guards are the number one targets giving people time to run.

What a wonderful world we live in.

Wait. Don't progressives say that's showing them that they're living in fear and the terrorists have won?

I say go in the opposite direction and remove all but a few police armed with batons or, at most, revolvers.

Even more, they should really promote the "clothing optional" theme to show their courage and commitment to cultural enrichment.

Nah. They aren't coming from the water. They're coming from the land.

Last thing they did in a European beach town was mow down 100 people using a truck.



This was after last year's massacre on a North African beach when they gunned down a couple dozen European tourists.
