8 years of Obama and Japan is going from a peaceful, anti war nation back to their military ways.

Not because it comes natural to them, but because they have to for survival because this dolt does not inspire safety or confidence for them.

Japan is looking to beef up its defensive capability in the face of aggressive moves by China in the East China Sea. This seems a pretty odd thing to blame on Obama.
Quote:
The new missile, say military experts familiar with the plans, is designed to “complicate enemy planning”. By positioning them on Japanese islands in the East China Sea and with a range that stretches to the edge of Japan’s territorial claims, the missiles would discourage naval aggression. If an attacking force were planning a landing on a Japanese island, its commander would need to destroy the missiles beforehand — in effect initiating conflict.
Good move by Japan.

Japan and China aren't going to war.

The Japanese are imperialistic, something changed? They are a resource poor country, if their economy suffers they will eventually look for other means to sustain it.

It was only being beaten in WWII that they modified thier behavior. Now they are rewriting thier history and teaching it to their children who will grow up denying the past.

Yes, pretty much everything did, about 70 years ago.

Japan sits in an hot zone where war world war 3 can break out at any moment. Japan faces 3 enemies in its back yard. To the north Japan has to face an resurgent Russia. Also Japan and Russia are still in a state of war. Japan never signed an armistice with the Soviet Union. Also Japan is used as a choke point to lock the Russian Navy in the sea if ohkstok. Japan and Russia have issues over the kuril islands.

West of Japan, there is North Korea. They don't like Japan either.

To the south west of Japan is China. China and Japan has naval boundary disputes from fishing rights, to maritime border issues. China is building up islands to protect its waters. But china's aggression worries Japan.

Japan is an hot zone. Putin, Kim and ping. This is the reason why the US has strong military assets in Japan to prevent such strikes from Russia. China and North Korea.

And? Do you imagine there's something in the Constitution making the US responsible for Japan's foreign policy decisions?

Are you the same guys who whine about how much tax money we spend supporting other countries? Because the way I see it, it's about time Japan pulled their own damned weight in that hemisphere. How many trillions have we spent protecting them so that they could spend all their money on their own citizens and boosting their economy and beating us in trade wars? Let 'em spend their own damned money on their own damned defense.

Zero trillions, America spends about $6 billion a year on it's military presence in Japan and most of that is on salary, equipment and services for soldiers and their families which would be spent no matter where they happened to be stationed.

Some in the Navy have said Obama's inaction is seen as a green light to China though.
