It absolutely makes a difference, but don't expect Kdog to agree. His mind is set.
If this was a criminal trial, maybe the credibility of the guards and Rio police would matter. Their credibility has nothing to do with all Lochte and the other guys did wrong at the station and more importantly, afterwards.
The fact that he's a 32 year old fading star who's not likely to make the 2020 Olympics undoubtedly factored in the decision. I suspect they were already on the fence about whether to re-sign him at the end of this year before his latest "indiscretions."
He can still do beer commercials and Western Union spots(" I'm in Mexico and they're going to put me in prison for tearing up a bordello. Send money fast, Ma"). Change his image to the bad boy head case of the Olympics and swimming. The image of athletes as role models no longer exists.
No.
Companies like Speedo sell their products to athletes all around the world, and the companies sure don't want a 32-year old guy who is an American exceptionalist and can't hold his liquor being a representative of their quality goods.
This is not a PC matter. It's one of common decency. Who would appreciate a party boy coming into a business and peeing on the walls of a bathroom? Anywhere- not just here? And then makes up a lie and flees before the cops show up?
If the Olympics had been held in Indonesia, Lochte would have been jailed and caned before he was released. That ain't PC, bro- it's the law of the land there, and Brazil has it's own laws. Any American who thinks they are beyond the laws of a nation they're visiting often end up with worse than a caning for an event like this.
And it would have most assuredly would have been an event, anywhere.
yes he is lucky didnt want any bad publicity because of the even so they went very easy on him.
You want to talk about class!!! While the debate about Lochte was going on.
Usain Bolt actually stopped an interview in progress because they started playing the Nation Anthem for an award ceremony. He stood respectfully until it was over and then completed the interview. It wasn't even the Jamaican anthem.
This is the difference between a frat boy and a respectable adult.
Wow, Now I feel like I need to apologize to the box of rocks I compared him to. What a dolt!!!
Lol, "America's Favorite Sea Cow". Too funny.
