2) The standard of living is still higher in than in Venezuela or the Soviet Union.
Two things:
1) They are still governed by their Republican weighted legislatures.
2) Have you asked those counties if they're proud of the fact (or even care) if their standard of living is better than that of Venezuela or the old Soviet Union?
In order to have relevance; wouldn't you have to consider the standard of living as having an affect on your lifestyle vis-Ã -vis life expectancy and other indicators compared to domestic indicators?
There are any number of democratically governed, NON- socialist countries out there with standards of living and life expectancy BELOW the worst of the U.S.'s Why are there no posts claiming "democracy kills" in relation to those?
Finally; do you think any these folks depicted in the links below have bothered to form an opinion regarding the superiority of a federal democracy versus socialism? When they die, will it have been "socialism" that shortened their lives?
The inherent failure of socialism is that it always requires other people money to make it work. And when those with the money take said money away, you have Venezuela.
We see it over and over again. Russia, China, Cuba North Korea and now Venezuela. Big powerful government just gets bigger and more powerful. And what is the first thing they all do? Disarm the people. Would Barack or Hillary do this? She would love to. It may not be likely but it's certainly possible. I'm quite certain that the people living in Venezuela before Chavez never worried about being disarmed. But it happened.

What a juvenile post. Comparing poor counties in the US to Venezuela is a slap in the face of the poor people in Venezuela who cannot even find enough food to stay alive.

I went there and saw it first hand. Yes, China is totally socialist. Just like Venezuela.
