I have a close family member in Canada who badly injured his knee. Eight months until the specialist appointment, six more months until his turn came up for the MRI. Now he's on a surgery list waiting for next January.

Isn't Canada who they were holding up as perfect health care?

Do you really think we in the U.S., spending an average of $8,713/person per year, cannot do better than that when Canada is only spending $4,429/person per year? Really?

Your argument, as all such pro-private-profit arguments, assumes a pure duplication of conditions and methods for the U.S.

And there are horror stories right here in the U.S., too. Most Canadians are quite happy with their healthcare.

Most North Koreans are very happy with their country too.

Both require nursing home care - and different types of care.
How would their situation be better or different in the US?

"Fraser Health spokeswoman Tasleem Juma told the Daily News that it had a face to face meeting with the family last Friday and is in contact with them.

She said that not all facilities have both the higher level of care needed by Wolfram Gottschalk and the assisted living support needed by his wife, but that Anita Gottschalk's center is one and she expects an opening in it within a few weeks.

Juma said that the family had been approached about the possibility of both husband and wife moving to a third facility that could accommodate both of them, but that the family wants both parents to be in The Morgan, where Anita currently lives.

Just look at the level of healthcare provided by the VA. This is what is coming to all Americans if Hillary is elected. Scary. Of course the Clintons, Obamas and the political elite class will have their own healthcare system.

Oh please.

Tennessee Couple Larry And Linda Drain Forced To Separate After 33 Years To Keep Insurance

Stuff happens anywhere.

Nursing homes in Canada are PRIVATE. Each province has it's own rules and set ups, but here in B.C. you can go into a non-subsidized care home and pay full price OR if you can't afford that you can go into a subsidized home which costs 80 percent of your income after taxes.

The subsidized homes are preferred by many since unlike the private homes, have 24 hour medical personal.

Do nursing homes fall under the category of health care?

Perhaps you should educate yourself about how the US political system works. Presidents do not create laws, the Congress does.

Canada has slightly better healthcare than the U.S. in terms of ranking. The best belongs to:

1. France
2. Italy
3. San Marino
4. Andorra
5. Malta
6. Singapore
7. Spain
8. Oman
9. Austria
10. Japan
....
30. Canada
....
37. United States
