Sorry, this is my last response in noting that this isn't about me.
Far to often they get away with it or are guilty...so you're judge and jury?

Should police be accorded the same rights you have ?

According to who? You?...

Is the system of justice corrupt?... Because if what I'm gleaning from you it must be because you don't like the outcomes the system produces

How do you fix the system? Care to share effectual solutions?

Because in my world and real life I don't see corrupt police actions erased...

We release a list of allegations...and outcomes.. for violations of policy and law all the time...
As a matter of fact California has a system tracking use of force for example..in place for years.although lately it's been touted by politicians as something new.. I see the outcomes are very harsh...

Agree?

When ‘Yelling Commands’ Is the Wrong Police Response

“Officers, especially the majority who are not specially trained on this issue, do not use appropriate techniques or de-escalate encounters with individuals with mental illness or impaired faculties to prevent the use of force and, when force is used, officers do not adjust the application of force to account for the person’s mental illness,” the department wrote in its 2014 report on the Cleveland Police Department.

Law enforcement training teaches officers to be forceful, to take charge of a situation and to physically control anyone who might be a danger. In the last two decades, there has been a growing trend to teach officers to de-escalate tensions, particularly with troubled people, but experts say there is a long way to go before the techniques reach every department and every officer, and really sink into the law enforcement mind-set.

The tactics can involve the officer keeping a distance, coaxing rather than commanding, and maintaining a quiet, conversational tone of voice.

Blah blah blah

So fix the mental health system...that's an effectual way to address one issue.
We had a great system of outreach involving mental health professionals deployed proactively on the street

Funding was cut..why?..it worked..

Oh..we had to pay for more social welfare..or create expensive bureaucracies to control marijuana...friggin travesty

Lets say the female officer who shot the man in Tulsa..clearing killing him without sufficient cause..at least that's what we are being told...(and I personally believe)

If she was found innocent by a jury of her peers would you support that verdict?

Agree?

Have you ever been in the front seat of a police car on a ride along?

The protests and lawsuits are making a difference but unfortunately there are still many officers that do not understand this.

Jegley acknowledged that the chief wanted to support officers. But he said, "They're not the judge, jury and executioners.

Jegley won't prosecute charges against John Walker or his associate | Arkansas Blog | Arkansas news, politics, opinion, restaurants, music, movies and art

The lawsuit that will follow will hopefully at least stop this officer from trying to escalate a peaceful situation into one where someone gets hurt.

Don't be a fool

What is really occurring in the US are police not doing aggressive preventative patrol...

You get paid the same to drive around and wave as you do to shake cars all night for bad guys...

And crime stats prove it as our cities descend into the toilet

So ..if you think you're making a difference on the internet you aren't

Communities change from within...until they do they will continue down the path of dysfunction

Something social justice types can't fix

Just south of me.

WV MetroNews – Charleston leaders to unveil community policing plan

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston community leaders and police officers will unveil a new plan focused on improving race relations between the public and law enforcement.

A press conference will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Charleston City Hall.

The plan was developed as a response to multiple officer-involved shootings across the United States.

For nearly 14 months, groups and organizations have been meeting to discuss police training, youth engagement, arrest tracking and police body cameras.

The protests have made a difference. Hopefully they will continue to.

Lawsuit forces the police to acknowledge and place in writing in police training that people have an absolute right to film the police in public.

A new documentary shines a terrifying light on cops who think they are at ‘war’ in America

In one arresting scene in Do Not Resist, Craig Atkinson’s new documentary about the culture of American policing, Dave Grossman, a man who conducts police training seminars, reportedly tells a group of officers that the best sex of their lives is waiting for them in the moments after they kill someone.

How do you protect yourself from flying fists, choking hands, disabling electrified darts and killing bullets?

How do you defend yourself against individuals who have been indoctrinated into believing that they are superior to you, that their word is law, and that they have the power to take your life?

Most of all, how can you maintain the illusion of freedom when daily, Americans are being shot, stripped, searched, choked, beaten and tasered by police for little more than daring to frown, smile, question, challenge an order or just exist?
