Next subject.
This subject is repetitive, but you must not be familiar with the very high % of unsolved homicides. Don't count on the killers being caught or, if caught, being sentenced to what they deserve. So in most cases justice will not be served.

Also sentenced doesn't mean served. Most sentenced wouldn't even serve 50% of the sentence. So much for "justice."

There's an interesting article in Today's Washington Post about why MPD chief Kathy Lanier is leaving to become head of security for the NFL. She's frustrated at the revolving door justice system in DC that allows convicted violent criminals back out on the streets time after time. It's insane. I suspect it's a similar situation in Chicago.

It's the same situation everywhere in USA. Sentencing has meant jack squat for decades.

Just look at what Obama did. If a law doesn't need to be enforced, can we at least get rid of the law first?

Prostitution is not always a victimless crime, unless you are talking the legal brothels here in rural Nevada. Agreed on the drugs.

We need to take a good look at what defines a felony, but any violent crime, especially where people were hurt- I agree. Get these people off the streets. For a long time.

I'm sure that many people that live in some of these areas that aren't real fond of the cops, probably aren't very fond of these violent criminals either, but these are their neighbors- so they keep their mouths shut.

If they could get these criminals out of these neighborhoods, I'll bet a lot of black people that live in the hood would be giving a sigh of relief. In private. This would also result in less police contact in general, and therefore, less likelihood of things going horribly wrong, less harassment of people not doing anything wrong, etc. etc.

Yup, lifeexplorer, you are right. I read that 1400 people are causing most of this misery. Only 1400 people.

Like as had already been pointed out, you have to catch the criminals first and with how little black people co-operate and help police to get these thugs off the street and even often do the reverse and harbor them, how can their neighborhoods EVER be cleaned up of crime?? Like recently in Toronto here we had a 15 year old black kid get shot in the leg and when the cops asked him for info, OF COURSE he stays quiet and says NOTHING. Its crap like that that will keep black communities in constant violence and crime into eternity.

And hell even if they do get caught and thrown in jail, if they ever get released they'll most likely go back to doing the same crap anyways and the cycle will continue as if nothing happened. Namely for most of them, once a criminal always a criminal and once a killer always a killer if you do something that happens to get them riled up and angry. And don't even think about trying to rehab them because most of them are literally beyond help.

You have any ideas?
How about blacks behaving like CIVILIZED HUMAN BEINGS towards each other? That would be a GREAT start. It would be nice that if they ever get into some sort of dispute or argument with each other that instead of immediately turning to violence that they could keep their cool and stick with using WORDS AND REASONING to solve the problem or maybe just maybe WALK AWAY instead of pulling out a gun or a knife or throwing punches. But that would be asking wayyyyy too much from most black people.

The only way you will change this is by changing the culture of the community. Conservative estimate is 90% of the people where I live own guns, they are easy to get and their use has very low restrictions. It's not uncoomon to hear gun shots where I live and there is no need for alarm either. Nobody is getting shot. That is not a result of the lax guns laws, it is the result of the people that live here.

Actually not.

Most shootings in Chicago are never resolved. Witnesses, if any, often fail to come forward. They protect their own or fear retaliation.

While most involve at least one person with a gang affiliation, the shootings tend to be triggered by personal disputes. Too often, too many are in the wrong place at the wrong time and the shooters miss their targets. Other times, relatives, including children, are targeted.

Most of the shootings occur in 5 out of 25 Police Districts.

I was juror on trial where one individual attacked another with a machete in a low income project. There was blood trail a few hundred feet long and nobody saw anything. Even the guy that was attacked was reluctant to testify.
