This is about a lot more than preventing an oil spill.

Seems to me when oil is spilled by rail or roadway you are dealing with a finite amount VS oil spilled by a pipeline would be an infinite amount and would be much more catastrophic.

Don't tell that to Alaska's residents in 1989. The Exxon valdez leaked more than any pipeline has leaked. You do realize that sensors shut down pipelines as soon as a rupture occurs.

Alabama has had two recent pipeline ruptures and those pipelines were quickly stopped. The repair was quite significant but the amount leaked was far less than a shipment of oil by ship or rail.

Nutcases are running the asylum. Hopefully after JA 20 some of this stupidity ends. The pipeline has all the necessary approvals and permits and is 90% done. Quit pandering to some spoiled nuts that are throwing a temper tantrum and refuse to grow up.

I seem to recall a pipeline burst in Yellow Stone Park.
