I live in a new development in CO, lots of home construction going on everywhere. Id say 90% of the work is done by latinos....meanwhile up the road there are always hippies covered in tats able body with a sign begging for money.

The H2B visas are direct replacement of American workers, which I am totally against; however, that means I am willing to pay higher prices for a lot of things such as food and milk.

Look at what Dell and Disney did. Plus some utilities in California and New England did the same thing. Five thousand is a conservative figure.

Show me the evidence that Dell and Disney replaced their workers with H1Bs, which is HIGHLY ILLEGAL. If you could, you would have a case to help the Homeland Security sue those companies. I'd love to see that happen because I don't like companies abusing H1B any less than you do.

Many are probably ILLEGAL immigrants. A basic requirement to qualify for H1B is having a bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Unsubstantiated. If true, those companies would be in violation of immigration laws and would have been shut down by the federal government already. The fact that they aren't tells us they are in compliance with the laws which says the H1b cannot be used to replace American workers.
Or that the federal government under Buttcrack Obamalini and Speaker Paul RINO is in LEAGUE with the corrupt companies!

While it is inconclusive on whether they are outright paying them lower right now, it has been shown in dozens of cases that they ARE replacing Americans and making them train their foreign replacements, which is totally against the designs of the H1B law.
Furthermore, there is another factor in creating a phony shortage. Say that there are 20 million Americans working in IT for $60K/yr average. Now they bring in about 100K H1Bs a year even when there isn't a shortage. That means that they are slowly increasing the labor supply allowing them to:
1.) Be more picky on skills, thus jipping younger workers as they can just grab laid off Americans workers or foreigners, leaving college students with lots of debt and no jobs.
2.) Lay off American workers that have been there for years and make it even easier to replace them with younger workers, foreign or otherwise.
3.) And yes, this makes it easier to price shop for the lowest wages.
While we cannot say that wages are going DOWN per se, they have been stagnant for about the past decade or so, which is also problematic.
It helps to know who these H1B visa holders are, who they are not. The above data says Apple hired 1464 people who holds H1B visas, with an average pay of $133,593.
Now, for that kind of salary, who wouldn't want to the jobs at Apple? Are they Americans or foreigners?
(1). Who they are not: they are mostly not Mexicans, not really "temporary", not unskilled (not everyone can get the jobs, and the jobs maybe eliminated if the visa holder is gone).
(2). Who they are: they are most likely Indians, Chinese etc, they have been in those positions for years, Apple is now sponsoring H1B for the next steps of Greencard and citizenship, those positions are highly skilled such as operating system software engineers.
