Most black people killed by other black people are murdered in a domestic violence situation, same as "white on white" crime. It is not overly perpetuated by "hood rats." Murder is a much more intimate crime than others and usually people know each other and are killed by a friend or family member. Most black women for instance are killed by their husbands/boyfriends, just like most women in general.
But I agree that one shouldn't have to worry about the police killing them. One also should be sure to really know one's friends/associates.

It never occurred to me to worry because I didn't live in Compton, South Bronx, of Chicago's South Side. I lived in the suburbs. I worried more about what would affect me in my immediate surroundings, or in places I wanted to be.

People in the suburbs are also killed by their family members. If you are black and your black family member kills you, then according to the media, that is "black on black" crime.
That is why I say "black on black crime" doesn't exist. Crime is crime. And many suburban communities today are actually rising in crime versus more urban areas, primarily due to drug use, and especially heroin and meth use is much more likely to occur in suburbs versus the inner city.
The Police should not have to worry about being shot either.
Potentially getting shot by criminals is actually a part of being a police officer. By taking that position, they SHOULD have to worry about being shot on the job. And FWIW, I have family members who are officers and I do worry about them being police officers because their job explicitly entails that they are frequently around criminally minded people. My teenage son has expressed to me he may want to be a cop and I actually think he would be a good officer because he has a very calm demeanor under pressure, but I don't want my kid to get shot. We live in the inner city and I don't worry about him being shot in general. If he were an officer, I would because people inherently shoot at officers every once in a while.
As an Asian myself, I just wanted to answer the question "how come we never see news about the cops shooting unarmed Asian teen" with "because all of the Asian teens are in their homes studying or practicing the violin/piano/cello." They don't come outside much where the cops are, lol.
I am also pretty sure that when they do interact with police, such as crossing a street at school, if getting a traffic ticket etc. they are not confrontational with or threatening towards the police.

Doesn't quite apply to all Asian people by country. Look at an IQ map of SE Asia vs. China, Japan, and South Korea. Many groups are genetically the same, but all are not successful as a group. So, there goes your big brain theory. No diiferent than white populations in the US compared to White people in places like Eastern Europe or even places like Argentina, or even incredibly smart Jewish people who are not genetically from the middle east; probably the most intelligent group regardless if they have middle eastern or European ancestry.
I suspect that almost all immigrant groups are smarter than the ones who stayed behind. People who had the sense to "get out of Dodge" before the s*** hit the fan are usually smarter than the ones who stayed behind. And I happen to think this may be true even of forcibly imported slaves. Those slaves were usually sold by other native Africans into slavery. Maybe some of them saw a slave ship as a good way of escaping.
