My observations are those with a neurotic need to get in the last word perceive themselves to be the "winner". I frequently have read well thought out and insightful ideas lost in a sea of blather.

That can definitely be true in some cases.
There are other times, however, when the "opposition" is just so wrong that it's almost impossible to refrain from calling them on it.
As they try to spin, rationalize, distract and shift away what they've said- as they're continually bludgeoned by logic and reason- they get closer and closer to that moment when they can no longer deny they're wrong. At this point, they either retreat and simply cloak their nonsense as being "opinion", or they declare themselves the winner and stop posting.
I will never never never give someone a red flag because I disagree with them.The only way you may get a red flag from me is if you bring my mama into the arguement.
Interestly,about the only red flag that I have ever got was in the immigration section,I don't even go there anymore.Well I got one on a abortion comment once also,2 very heated topics.

Hey sorry, i just grabbed a random group of names, so not every poster is included, but you can figure out your total and you place. I mainly grabbed names from people i have debated with on this forum or people that posted to topics i have started or threads i posted to, so its a bit bias lol. However, feel free to add yourself into the rank etc....Simply thought it would be fun etc...

22.7 reps per 100 post...your rank would be 18th on the list
I actually have got a few negative reps by people who strongly disagreed with me. I'm actually proud of the fact that I have animated a few people to rep me negatively without having personally attacked anyone.
I don't bother with negative reps, that's for crybabies.
To me, giving out a negative rep without your name is the equivalent of hinding behind your mommy's skirts and having a good cry.
And to think my parents said I wouldn't amount to jack s***. HAH!!!
