It's not just "spy community," it's folk who spend their time studying these movements and relationships. Probably the major worry is that the Saudis may dump the Nixon petrodollar agreement they've held with the US since 1972. That's unlikely and it would be extreme, but Saudi Arabia has its fingernails so deeply into the flesh of the US economy that they can make us feel whatever economic pain is inflicted on them.
Seems to me that it is Saudi that is struggling here, not us.

I don't see them struggling at all. The Benjamins won't be an issue for them--they've got the Benjamins and they've got the lawyers. But they also have the means for payback for the offense along a number of economic lines.
This Bill will open doors to America being sued across the world for what we do-- -- as we if do not do any harm-- yes the families deserve justice but this is about money-- and this bill will flip backwards-- thank God-it does have some loop holes--
A retroactive statute has known and unknown future ramifications.
Can it be proven that a network of Saudis supported al Qaeda and link the network to 9/11 and then to the Royal Kingdom? No one knows.
I suspect there is no end to people who have been negatively impacted by US meddling/ bombs and some will welcome the opportunity to sue and settle with the US.
Reps to you, m'lady.
This concept should be readily apparent to everyone, ESPECIALLY our lawmakers in DC.
LOL...now Ryan and McConnell are trying to walk this whole thing back, and claiming "Obama didn't warn us enough." What a bunch of clowns.
Yep. Behold the party of personal responsibility. They override the president's veto and then blame the president for somehow not stopping them from overriding his veto. There never was a more worthless bunch than today's Congressional Republicans. They can't even take responsibility for their own actions. Pathetic.
