Can you imagine the precedent this could create?
Auto makers sued because some nut killed someone with a car.
Beer makers sued because some nut got drunk and caused harm.
Knives, blunt instruments like baseball bats, (which are used to kill MORE then rifles), swimming pools, etc.
This so-called lawyer who took this case in nothing more then a bottom feeding money seeking scum bag who KNEW he didn't stands a snow ball's chance in hell of winning yet, he dragged these people through hell, AGAIN.
Depends on state. I think Texas has a law where the loser picks up the tab.
Tort reform.
Better have a good case and better have bullet proof evidence, to support that case.
