I'm mentioning this because no one else will, neither democrats nor republicans. Food is big business and lobbyists, plus campaign donations, are needed to keep control of both parties. Any politician that goes off the beaten path, will not win their next election campaign because the food industry will see to it that they don't.

Even some talk-show hosts like Sean Hannity will not talk about it because, as he himself said, he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement to get his job, and because radio advertises food, food is not to be mentioned in relation to the immigration problem. Hannity has correctly pointed out over and over that the price of fuel is putting upward pressure on food prices, but not the immigrant demand for food.

When they say there are over a million immigrants so far, how can it not put upward pressure on food prices.

All of this is happening with the approval and support of the food industry. Why wouldn't they be happy, when it means higher profits. $$$$$$

What one million immigrants? There are millions of illegal aliens here and they aren't immigrants. Of course illegal aliens put extra demands on everything in our country and drive up prices on everything.

They should not be able to compete for housing, either. Need to start throwing people who rent or harbor them in prison.

What’s been happening at the border is insanity. Having said this, a million +/- immigrants hardly matters in terms of feeding 360 million.

That 75% of us are overweight/ obese means most folk could do with substantially fewer calories. The obesity rate in the US is 42%, while it’s 3.6% in Japan. While buckets of KFC are viewed as special holiday treats in Japan, it and similar foods, are everyday fare for the masses in the US.

I have posed this question a dozen times in this forum. What specifically should Biden do to reduce the price of food? Price and wage freezes and controls as Nixon did in 1970’s? Ban exports and pay producers for the loss?

No wall is high enough or patrols deep enough to limit illegal immigration so long as US people and businesses can economically engage undocumented people without consequences.

As it relates to food, who do you think are working the fields and in meat/ poultry/ seafood plants?

The government pays farmers not to plant fields and willfully destroys crops to artificially manipulate the market. Supply is not a problem.

The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) was created in 1985 to incentivize landowners to leave some of their marginal land unplanted, a plan meant to protect the environment by reducing agricultural runoff into streams and rivers, preserving wildlife habitats, and preventing erosion. Today, the Department of Agriculture (USDA) “rents” about 21 million acres of farmland from landowners, typically for 10 years at a time—a tiny fraction of the total land farmed nationwide. In recent years, the number of acres enrolled in CRP has fallen, possibly because USDA’s rental payments have not been competitive with the open market, Chuck Abbott reported for FERN News.

Just linking info for people not sure what this is all about.

Since 1985.....wow. lots of Presidents have come and gone.

Most of what we grow goes to livestock. We can reduce the price of vegetables, and fruits and increase the quantity by reducing grain, corn, and soy planting to more varied edible foods but everything has a cost. Currently, our government gives a lot of subsidies to farmers and many for specific crops to be grown. Would need to adjust those too I would presume. Also, our entire food production is controlled by a hand full of companies, the same ones that preferred to let food rot away on farms in 2020 than buy it and possibly cause a price reduction due to high supply. We just left the food on the farms to rot, could have fed a lot of people with that.

The moment you stop the Cattle feed, beef prices will rise, then people will blame the party in charge for the increase. So neither party moves on this and we import those commodities from all over the globe.

Because there are always over a million immigrants in a year, and even if you had an extra million that would only be 0.2% of the US population, a country that has an excess of food.

Your theory is weak.

like state and federal governments? Sure technically illegals aren't supposed to be living in public funded housing but they do. All that is needed is a relative who does qualify and in they go.
