One of the main goals of getting women to go to work in the first place was to drive down men's wages. Hiring women then was the same as hiring immigrants today. The result was men being displaced by women. Now women want the same salaries that the men they displaced earned. Big business responded by hiring immigrants and H-1B visa workers.

I remember when the network news show were 90% male. Judging from the daytime news shows it looks like that ratio has almost been reversed.
IMO, I have no problem with tv news teleprompter readers being women. It was a pleasure listening to Diane Sawyer. However most of the younger women today on network news sound more like twelve year old cheer leaders whose voice is very similar to running one's fingernails on a chalkboard. If they are getting paid more than minimum wage they are grossly overpaid.

Any gender pay issue is a coincidence.

There is no way to accurately measure such being that how much a person is paid has numerous variables and instances that are specific to that job, the person asking for the wage, that company policies, procedures and conditions to such which can be numerous factors in themselves, the person setting the wage, on and on and on.

Make no mistake, this entire discussion is a race/sex division accusation designed to create tension between people and give government yet another reason to promote its existence.

Nothing to get upset over.
Once socialism is abolished, the gender pay issue will evaporate.
Remember, socialism fails when it runs out of other people's money as well as other people's children (to tax).
The side effect of socialism is depopulation and declining birthrates, due to the belief that one can rely on the government to tax "other people's children" for one's old age support. But when the birthrate drops - like in Europe - wuh woh scooby.

After the collapse of socialism, people will resort to the age old practice of large families to insure their security in old age. And that means the bulk of the women will remain out of the workplace, for the most part, for their vital duties as mothers and teachers will supersede careers in business.

Well they have critiqued Obama on this issue.

I don't know if I would say that.

There are some identifiers that provide some possible reasons for a proposed gap.

The Dept of labor has said that men work almost an hour more a day than women, on average. That directly affects income across genders.

If increased risk equals increased reward, then the percentage of occupational fatalities between genders could shine some light on that, as well.

Even though the last few decades have seen a shift in the numbers showing much less male and more female fatalities, we still have a 98% male occupational fatality rate.

That said, The military has an equal pay program. In which, each rank receives equal base pay regardless of mos or gender, and yet we still see a 99% male fatality rate without the increase in pay.

So perhaps the gender gap is less of a problem with prejudice and more of a result of the majority of people fulfilling a gender role that is more significant and goes much deeper than our most recent "political correctness means equality of outcome", nonsense.

Lets just force everybody to be equal regardless of what they did in life. If theres a person with thin privilege then we'll cut a chunk of flesh off of an obese person and sew it to the person suffering from thin privilege. There, equal. Its a Frankenstein that won't live for long but what matters is that they're equal. Happy Halloween.

How very Harrison Bergeron. Come to think of it, that would be a cool costume.
Happy Halloween!
