I think thoses stats are incorrect because during the 20s and 30s Detroit was run by the Purple Gang and the Eastside/Westside Mob and murder was a way of life for these guys(prohibition) what did Memphis had going on in the city to cause such a high murder rate? This is the first time I have come across any stats like this. I know from reading and doing research that during those decades the Purple Gang was link to over 500 unsolved murders and the Mafia accounted for over 100 because of gangland warfare.
Yes, the Purple Gang an All Jewish Gang is one of the most dangerous in the history of the US and its highly disputed, they may have been the most notorious gang of thugs ever in this country as it has been confirmed, that they executed more than 500 murders in a 10 year span. Talk about deadlly and dangerous and now look where the Jewish Americans are? Definitely gives hope to inner city black gangesters, that they'll eventually shape up. If these violent thugs could do it, they could as well.

Actually you'd be worng again! Washington DC was the muder captial of the World in the 1980's, the crack cocaine epidemic, hit that city like a hurricane. The murder rate in the overall city was 80 per 100,000 and in certain areas topped 400 per 100,000. It would be hard to top the "Murder Captial of America in the 1980's. It launched the notorious career of Rafer Edomonds, who was believed to be making more than 70 Million dollars a month distrubting crack. His net-worth in the 1980's through illegal activity was in the range of 550 million to 800 million, he's said to have killed more than 40 people and that's a conservative estimate. Very Similiar to Whitey Bulger in South Boston who is said to have murderd about 40 people.
miami was bad in 81, had like a murder rate of 91/100( highest in the world that year, in 1980 it was 70/100) and in some areas it was higher of course , if you seen cocaine cowboys, the one guy who killed around 200 people for the Colombian cartel.
