Amy Schumer defends her Formation video as a Beyoncé 'tribute'
The comedian made a lip-sync “tribute” to Beyoncé’s hit video while on the set of her new film, using co-stars Goldie Hawn, Joan Cusack and Wanda Sykes as support. Released through Tidal, the video led to accusations of cultural appropriation.
The video was also criticized for using women of color in the background. “Amy Schumer uses the facets of Black womanhood that serve her best while casting Black women as extras and props in centering her own body,” wrote @FeministaJones on Twitter.
It's a self-cannibalizing state of aggressive sensitivity and virtue one-upmanship. There are no lines in the sand. There's no end. It just keeps going. When you're embattled against imaginary ills, those ills can become almost anything. Unfortunately the reaction of most who find out they're not quite social-justicey enough (which is most of them at some time or another) isn't to start to question the blatant anti-fact and abundant horseshoe theory aspects of social justice but to go further, double down, try harder, adopt ever more radical positions so that one's justice virtue is once again, until the next time, beyond reproach.
I thought she was Jewish first? Oh, that's right, Jews are white only when pontificating to whites...
When she was 21, Amy Schumer and her sister Kim Schumer were arrested for grand larceny, as part of a shoplifting scheme. During an interview, she stated that it was her connection to Senator **** Schumer, that enabled her to plead down the charge.
It's good to have a bit of Jewish Political influence if you are up for Grand Larcency, the crime is then suddenly reduced to a misdemeanor.
