The super rich either have "primary homes" in no state income tax states like Texas Wyoming Florida etc.

The super rich who do stay also invest primarily in tax exempt
Muni bonds. That's why cities and govt are extremely afraid to declare BK. Cause the tax exempt muni bonds they sell to fund infrastructure would scare away future investors thinking its a safe investment.

The poor stay cause they get more benefits (medi-cal etc) more liberal benefits

It's really the middle and upper middle who get screwed. They are the ones leaving California

The mass exodus of middle class households continues from California: One-third of Bay Area residents would like to leave sometime soon. » Dr. Housing Bubble Blog

The total for my college education was less than that (I graduated in 2015).

Sometimes I think the government is just punishing some of us for having money. Besides basic government facilities - roads, police, etc, my parents haven't utilized government resources. I was in private school until I entered high school, so my parents barely used that resource either.
You are correct. Taxes are way too high and government is way too big.

Those that don't pay taxes should and those that do should get a tax break.

Sounds fair to me.

No, they are way too low. Property taxes should get reduced, but it is time to implement a national health care system, make public college tuition free so merit and not money decides who will get a good education and make pre-school affordable for everyone with a child so both parents can work and pay taxes.

These are MIDDLE CLASS investments and we should implement a new payroll tax and a national sales tax to fund it. The country would be much better off as a result.

Decades of experience of reducing income taxes without immediately reducing spending to offset, makes no sense.

Yes let's have unaccountable govt employees pick the winners and losers in education, health care, etc. What could go wrong?
