Why in the beginning of the season would SNL do a repeat, is it possible they couldn't find anything funny about an FBI investigation???

Several of the late night hosts have been taking a breather after the political debates, too.
I think Stephen Colbert just came back live last week.

I think everyone is worn out (I know I am), trying to just catch a breather, and will be back in force soon.

there had been no new show scheduled for oct 29 before the FBI announcement.
