Quote:
Phalodi village in Rajasthan set a new record for India with a temperature of 51C on May 19 this year, the report said.

At some other places in the world, the maximum temperatures climbed even higher: to 54C in Mitribah (Kuwait) on July 21; and to 53.9C in Basra (Iraq) and 53C in Delhoran (Iran) on July 22.
This year 'very likely' to be the hottest

Can anyone say "climate refugees"?

The year was the latest first fall freeze ever here. Shattered the old record. Not sure what to attribute it to but it's nice.

We set our latest 100 temp ever this year on October 27th (previous last 100 ever was Oct 23rd, 2003), so 4 days later than the standing record

It's been great here in Michigan. Very mild fall. No need to move to Florida or Arizona.

Thnak you to all the SUV drivers.

To quote Battlestar Galactica: "This has all happened before, and it will all happen again." We've had very hot temperatures before, and I'm sure we will again at some point. There's too much measurement bias in the hotter regions of the world to say anything definitively despite what the fear-mongerers want you to think.

Sixteen of the 17 hottest years on record have been in the 21st century. The other one was 1998.
