People will have to learn when information is factual and when it is not. The political and advertising industries will be devastated if we ever do.

This isn't a left or right issue, it's the establishment that wants to be able to control the narrative.

Five conglomerates own pretty much all of the msm, the internet allows the information to be disseminated, and be beyond the control of these media conglomerates. That is a threat to those that want to control the message.

Establishment candidates (both Republican, and Democrats) will have an increasingly difficult time getting elected with the internet remaining free, and uncensored.

The fight to keep the internet free, and uncensored is just beginning.

Freedom of speech. And if loonies want to believe in that crap, so be it. Many businesses pray on the weak and senseless.

The government doesn't control social media, private companies do. If private companies want to suppress fake news stories, then they are free to do so.

So maybe you are the one that needs to get over it.
What I intended to say was that its pointless for people to keep arguing over who caused a week-old event and to move on, not that YOU needed to get over it. Sorry!

So infowars is being purged for being a fake conspiracy site for having crazy ideas like the possibly of a purge of an independent press.....

That's interesting.

1. The timing of these announcements is suspect. Seems politically motivated.

2. Isn't this what they basically do in China?

3. These companies can do what they want but it should create a vacuum for other platforms that don't engage in suppressing free speech (that is being an actual search engine or social media site vs just a straight-up media site). Time for the investors to put more money into THOSE platforms not the ones that will morph into some sort of arm of the MSM.

I am thankful for C-D. I like hearing unfettered opinions from both sides of the fence.

The big question is who determines news is "fake". Do we really care if it is a government agency or a company afraid that they will offend the loudest voice they hear. In the end we will have search engines and social media sites that are the equivalent of FOX and MSNBC with people only utilizing their side

Well if a story isn't true, then that would be considered fake news....it is called "fact checking."

BREAKING: Soros Caught Red-Handed Funding Anti-Trump Protests, Paying Protesters $15/hr
This story is a great example of fake news, people go out of their way to create very believable fake news, yet they are still fake. Would you rather have actual, real news that you may or may not agree with, or would you rather only have news you agree with regardless if it is real or fake?
