It's not a matter of disagreement. She literally didn't understand the difference between evaluating students/teachers/schools based on growth vs proficiency. She has no understanding of the issues in education.

Actually I don't think thats true. She was hardly given a chance to answer because Franken was too busy lecturing her on his views, then interrupting to complain that he wasn't allowed to ask more questions. From what I saw she wasn't allowed to even complete a full thought/sentence on the topic when he asked her about it.

In part....... I would most certainly run it differently than it currently is. The facts are school systems all over the country are doing good jobs. They don't need a centralized system to lead them.

There are some terrible systems. They do.

To the topic. Do I expect her to really mess things up? Yeah, I'm good with that. It's unlikely that we will fix things until we break them first.

So you think federal tax money should go to states for education, with zero federal oversight You don't believe in federal student aid programs?

That's what these hearings are for. This isn't a problem with the (D)'s only. They hold these hearings to get their faces on television and preach to the choirs.

Ask any teacher, and they will tell you the real issue in education are the over excessive government mandated tests that are created by federal hacks who toss around meaningless statements such as growth vs proficiency evaluation. They are not being allowed to actually "teach".

It's time that nonsense is tossed out of the school system.

Trump made a good choice.

I thought your side hated teachers and didn't value their opinions. I also thought your side advocated evaluating and firing teachers based on performance metrics.

But yes, teachers hate the over-reliance on standardized tests, but those who understand that testing is our current reality understand that progress is a better metric than proficiency. Most teachers are also vehemently anti-charter schools. Do you defer to the teachers' judgment there too?
