Plenty of muslims who have emigrated in have done so because they don't like life in a fundamentalist regime.
And plenty of religious bigots want to exclude any others who are fleeing fundamentalist oppression and expel the ones who are already enjoying life in our free country.
Yah. Some Islamic governments do better than others, in this regard. But in their own country, I don't know that you're going to be able to repeal by remote control the practices that we (in the West generally & in the US specifically) object to on moral or religious grounds. Those are not our countries, to do with as we will.
We can lobby & nudge & hold out better examples & models - but Islam is very self-referencing, it's a closed system. I don't think even our good example will move many of their elites & ministers & government entities to emulate Western values or protocols or rule of law (as we understand that term). It's a problem - the US doesn't need Mideast oil & natgas as much as Japan & Europe generally do.
I would think we (the US in the Middle East & the Islamic World) would do better modeling better practices - emphasis on rule of law, contracts, universal education, more self-determination for individuals or @ least families to choose schooling & futures for their children, more representative forms of government, & so on. We can argue that over time, these & similar policies help move countries forward & soften the blows of the oil shock, global recession, the Brain Drain, natural disasters & related. @ least, the Tiger economies have done better than expected - & better than their neighbors & competitors - for the last few decades.
If their own self-interest doesn't appeal to these governments & their elites & citizens, then we run out of options to help motivate them to help themselves fairly quickly. I don't see us invading countries militarily to help them reform themselves - that's a very shortsighted view of economics & politics.

He said the terror attacks were good, but the "practical" way to defeat America was through immigration and by outbreeding non-Muslims. He said jihadi-minded brothers would immigrate into the United States, taking advantage of the welfare system to support themselves while they spread their jihadi message. They will wrap themselves in America's rights and laws for protection, ratchet up acceptance of Sharia law, and then, only when they were strong enough, rise up and violently impose Sharia from within. He said the brothers would relentlessly continue their attacks and the American people eventually would become so tired, so frightened, and so weary of war that they would just want it to end.
"Eventually," KSM said, "America will expose her neck to us for slaughter."
So...the countries with highest murder rate of women are largely Catholic....

Of course, it's silly to paint entire religions based on the activity of the extremist whack-jobs. Any religion.
Muslims do not belong in the West and I don't want them here. They don't want Christianity in their countries, which would be an improvement. They want Sharia law, and they want it where ever they go. So muslims have to stay put.
So many liberals here deflecting instead of addressing the topic directly. Many Islamic countries put gays in prison or execute them. They also treat women as property of men. They use Islamic Law to justify these cases. So why is it that liberals support the mass immigration of Muslims from these countries without being vetted properly? Why do you treat Christians as evil for things done in the distant past when Muslims are doing these things today?
