This is how Trump should have couched it from day one. The US obviously can't set up a religious immigrant test. But it is in the national interest to stop immigrants that support or train terrorists.
All this talk of banning all muslims, and muslim registration was nothing but fake news stories from the msm.
Unless the MSM figured out how to doctor Trump's voice at his rallies, he did actually say those things. But since we live in a post fact world now where far right internet blogs and screechers like Alex Jones have more credibility than established journalists, I don't expect you to listen but to plug your ears and scream I can't hear you!
We won't need to.... Simply stop immigration from particular countries regardless of creed.
Immigration should only be accepted from western countries and Japan and S. Korea and a select few other allied or western friendly nations such as parts of S. Asia on a case by case basis. The total quota should be reduced to under 250,000/year. Also national origins quotas should be used.

I don't agree with this.
I think it is more effective to create a black list than a white list. We should continue to be as welcoming of a country as we always have unless given a reason to shut a particular country out. I can think of a few countries would left out that would have excluded some people that are notable for our country. Some of the brightest immigrants in my company are from mainland China and they are as loyal to their new lives as Americans here as anyone else.
I'm not so sure I agree with the banning of immigration by country either. However it is part of the platform of the new administration... I accept that... certainly do not support open borders either. I still think targeting a particular people by religion is a mistake... we need these very same people to help stop terrorism. But if we were to stop immigration, I figure by country is somewhat a compromise as long as it doesn't single out people by race or creed.

This is horrible, horrible! No more terrorists to enter the country? What kind of world would we be living in?
What kind of country doesn't allow terrorists???
