While I get that the state's rights card gets played a lot, is there something specific happening here? Sounds like it's states like Cali amping up to invoke state's rights over things that Trump might or might not do.
Yes. Mainly around sanctuary cities, but also the electoral College brouhaha. I'm being nice in calling this ironic. On my less charitable days, I called it outright hypocrisy. Only those who believe they have the ultimate moral clarity and authority can deny the hypocrisy, or irony.

Article titles are not meant to be reflective of how one thinks of the article. If you are taking issue with my characterization of the article being thought provoking, I say ok. If you are barking about the article title, that is between you and The New Yorker.

They don't believe in state rights though, they just "believe" in anything they can do to get their way.
^^ This.
I keep waiting to see what kind of tactic they will use next. And when every angle is exhausted, I still doubt that the whining and foot stomping will go away.
To me, the liberals are exactly what they claim everybody else to be: disrespectful, intolerant, and immoral.

Sure....... it's a valid point to bring up. I just wish it was complete. You can bring it up and connect the circle.

Since the target audience is predominantly liberal I find it to be thought provoking because people with political identities (left or right) spot the other guys hypocrisy easily. It's their own hypocrisy that they're blind to.
Also, since Trump hasn't yet done anything it's kinda hard to call the right out for supporting him on some action and turning on states rights. (yet)
It goes without saying though that anyone in the far left or far right are party loyalists that the vast majority of time would turn on any platform item at the drop of a hat with immediate rationalization.

I agree with this idea. I wasn't knocking that this idea isn't true. It is. I was simply condemning the article for not doing this.

I agree with this also but if he does this he then will be condemned for not following up on his promises.
